After 3 weeks of waiting for a hot water heater replacement in sub-freezing weather, I had to buy and install everything myself. Now, they won't pay a dime and are ignoring the BBB complaint with no just cause.

Simply saying, "we are not obligated to pay anything".

These weasels stiffed me $530, plus my time, and monthly fees! Class action lawsuit time, please!

Reason of review: Problems with payment.

Why did you wait 3 weeks? Was it because you wouldnt agree to pay the out of pocket expenses for the non-covered charges, like an expansion tank or other code upgrades and modifications?

You paid $529 and did the job yourself. A licensed plumber would charge around $875-900 for a normal installation, including all copper fittings, not shark bites, and an expansion tank and new cutoff. AHS only gives the plumber $150 per plumbing claim, and the plumber has to spend his own money on the water heater and all the supplies. AHS seems it an honor for their contractors to work for them, therefore they don’t pay the contractors, but rather, they give them sales opportunities.

Denials and partial denials are the sales opportunities. If you could do this yourself for $529, why did you go through a home warranty???
