American Home Shield - Water Heater Replacement - Ripoff Costs
My water heater is busted. I was asked to pay the $75 service call fee in addition to a $395 pipe removal fee.
WTH! Pipe removal fee. Cutting of 2 copper pipes, NO WAY IN *** costs $395. The plumber was awesome but in actual fact, I ended up paying for a new water heater in the hidden "Pipe Removal Fee".
Look at the attached picture, this is not a $395 pipe removal job. I could have cut these pipes off for free. Total disgrace and ripoff of innocent hardworking consumers. I would stay away from these crooks for sure.
Beware of these scammers.
What a SCAM!!!!! Sad, Sad, Sad!!!!!
Reason of review: Pricing issue.

The warranty doesnโt pay the plumber squatโ$100 per plumbing claim, which your service fee covers most of that for AHS. The real money for the water heater comes from the customer.
A home warranty is more like a discount repair service. If you donโt agree with the non-covered charges, or if they cost more than what a non-warranty provider would charge, you should just ask AHS for the cash out option, through their options department.
You crying about how you were ripped off for cutting a pipe is not putting food on the plumberโs table. He has to feed his family too, and canโt do anything for what AHS pays.
