My AC had a leak I filed a claim cost me 75.00. They always contract 1 star companies to come out and do the work. The guy couldn't find the leak so he placed Fix a leak in my system. 3 months later no air leak back. I called AHS they wanted to charge me another 75.00...

Better yet, do yourself a favor and don’t buy ANY home warranty at all. You can hire 5 Star companies, and decide which repair scenario fits your budget and timeframe.

You can save so much time and aggravation by calling your own crews out whenever you need service—no wait!!!

White glove service that meets your expectations is just a phone call away. It’s just not any home warranty’s phone number.

American Home Shield - Water Heater Warranty Review from Houston, Texas

1.0
Details
I sent a request to fix my water heater and the contractor charged me $125 just to tell me it needed to be replaced. I contacted AHS and they told me it wasn't covered completely and that I needed to pay over $600 out of pocket to get it fixed. I immediately canceled and told them I wasn't happy with them. What kind of company offers to cover your appliances and home systems and then go and charge you anyway? Stay away from this company, they are a scam.

American Home Shield review in Houston, Texas: Not Happy with Contractor and Customer Service with American Homeshield

Ceiling fans broken. AHS sends out a technician that says the motor went out and he had a replacement ceiling fan in truck. Ok, problems let him call and get authorization to repair or replace. I had to pay someone to sit at my house waiting on repairman, because I couldn't take a day off for repair. The JTL repairman tell the housesitter that he be back in two days after he gets authorization and leaves. I call JTL Electric and AHS authorization on a conference call to see if if can get authorization and have him come back the same day. I ask why could this not be fixed or repaired the same day. JTL Electric technician never called his office or AHS with diagnosis so this was another waste of a call. WTF? Who did he pretend to call while at my house if not his office to report problem or AHS for authorization? What a waste of a day. Now I am told it will be another day or days to replace a $40 ceiling fan.

American Home Shield review in Houston, Texas: Ripoff alert

1.4
Details
This company is a ripoff. They've taken around $1500 in monthly payments and what do i get for that? Having to pay more money. They have paid for nothing but charged me 2 callout fees to diagnose a leak in my bathtub. It only leaked when the tub was full... any *** should know what was creating the issue. But their plumber said nothing was wrong and accused the a/c. I was then forced to pay a callout fee to have an a/c guy come who, of course, said nothing was wrong. Then the plumber came back, for free this time, only to say there was still nothing wrong. This one issue has now cost $200 out of pocket, not to mention what I paid to AHS. Well, my long-time handyman came out, found the obvious holes, and fixed them immediately for under $400 - I should not have had to pay this! I called to talk to them and that's not even easy! I had to sit on hold for over 10 minutes. CONTRACT CANCELLED.

American Home Shield review in Houston, Texas: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

1) repairman told me to just not use the ice maker on my jennaire and said this was a manufacture defect. Also, said the loud noise of the motor was "normal." $1000 later (and a different company) it was actually the motor board and the ice maker door. 2) called for electrical service and the repair man kept calling to say he was running late from a previous job. I just happened to look outside and see him sitting in his truck. The next time he called to say he was running late, I walked outside and he said "oh, I just got here." Then he proceeded to undo the breaker box and not fix anything and left it disrepaired. Service charge was applied and not a single repair was made. 3) called about a garage door problem. Repairman came out and said "well, there's nothing we can do since they don't make this model anymore." Service charge was applied. BOTTOM LINE: Skip this --- I was out $1580 for the year with nothing to show for it.
