I just had a water heater failure with AHS. My out of pocket is $535 to get stuff up to code, and that included a 20% discount the tech game me on the spot.

A possible difference was, I had his worksite set up, cleaned out, lit with a fan on it for him to keep cool. I didn’t *** at him or pretend I have rights to an economy in an alternate universe. He said the value of the install was about $1600 total, I checked around in my area and that estimate was right in the middle. I didn’t hang up on anyone I spoke with.

All said and done I’m paying much less than you for the same repair with the same company, nobody lied to me, and I wasn’t an *** to anyone in the process. You are a fool to have pride worth so much that you actually have to take money out of your pocket to keep that pride going.

While you are waiting, the service contractor assigned to your claim is servicing new work orders, because that is how the home warranty HVAC contractor gets paid and gets a growing number of calls. They only get an average of $200 per claim, so high volume is a higher priority than fixing those customers that are already in queue.

All the older claims have costly problems and no out of pocket non-covereds payable by the homeowner to cover the actual Costs the HVAC company incurs. This is why there is so much waiting involved in home warranty service

Damaged items are not covered under the warranty. The appliance repair company is responsible for acting as an “insurance adjuster” who has to make a determination of how to apply the terms and conditions of the contract in order to get out of paying for a replacement.

He is held responsible BY AHS for every dollar spent. In fact his business depends upon how liberally he can apply the policy limitations and exclusions. In order to remain on the list of providers, he has to keep his average ticket total down to $100 or whatever his AHS Contractor Relations Rep has dictated. They go over his costs constantly, and threaten to remove him from the vendor list at least once a day.

Until that particular problem is fixed with home warranties, none of the policy holders will ever get satisfactory results out of their home warranty. All home warranty companies function in this manner, so looking for another home warranty company will not help.
