American Home Shield review in Leland, North Carolina: FIND ANOTHER COMPANY

1.0
Details
I am in the process with American Home Shield. I have a gas heat pump that have not been working for over a month. I have been without heat through Thanksgiving and now it looks like Christmas. I am a family of 5 and do not have anywhere to stay. American Home Shield will not pay for me anywhere to stay until the situation is remedy. They have had two contractors to come out several times within a month to fix the situation. They both have ordered several parts that have taken days to come in. And I am still without heat. Remind you that this unit is only 4 years old.

The fact that your unit is only 4 years old means that it should still be under manufacturer’s warranty, at least for parts. That being said, it only slows down the repair process even more, because you have a double warranty situation.

There is not enough monetary reimbursement to entice a busy HVAC service provider to file for (and wait upon) 2 different credits. Credits do NOT equal cash.

Do you work for credits, at your job? NO, you probably work for a paycheck.

When buying a home - I had the HVAC systems fully inspected. I requested repairs. The homeowner had the AHS policy and requested the repairs. Less than 21 days later the system broke down on a very hot day. They took 4 days to get someone out. 36 hours later, the...

Good review. Well-written and timely.

There are far too many bad reviews of AHS to ignore the fact that they seem to have a problem actually fixing, quickly a problem the homeowner has.

Apparently, even their customer service is unresponsive with long wait times. Don't know as I have always just called my plumbing & heating company in town whenever I have a problem.

I have spent alot of co/pyt because AHS will not replace my washer/dryer. I was told about 3 months ago that I need a dryer from the tech. but AHS wanted him to fix it for now. Those 85.00 co/pyts are adding up and I thought I would save by having AHS.

AHS will deny the claim or repair the item with as little as possible so that you will end up paying for the replacement yourself. The contractor they use is not only under threat of losing their gig as a being a vendor on the contractor list, but also the money they spend must be their own, unless they want it counted against them.

AHS gives all their calls to the vendors who don’t charge AHS. Wouldn’t you? If you had a plumber who would donall you asked for $100 per pop, including parts, equipment and fixtures, wouldn’t you use that plumber as much as possible? That’s what they do!!!!

The plumbers who charge AHs a slight discounted rate and do great work will get left out, in favor of the cheaper option.

It’s simple dollars and sense. Unfortunately, the service will suck and it will take 3 forever to get what you need, if ever.

They did the same thing to me, AHS is a scam, just keep promising me and did nothing. 14 days no ac in phoenix az in august.

They are good at fixing simple things but if it is dead, buy a new one.

Don't waist your time. Be cool if there was a class action suit to join, they must have screwed thousands of people.

ome warranty companies have their contractors on a budget that does not allow the contractor to charge them for parts or equipment. A small amount of time is all the contractor can give you.

If parts or equipment are needed, the contractor has to include those for free in order to keep from jeopardizing their future work with AHS. The contractors can only Bill AHS for a tiny amount of money (that your service fee covers) on each repair ticket, or they won’t get any more calls from AHS. That’s why they’re acting like they don’t know what is wrong with your equipment half the time, and can’t give you any straight answers. Everyone else in the country that uses AHS is going through the same thing, and they are alllllll calling AHS as much (or even more) than you are.

That’s why you can’t get them on the phone. Money would solve this. Take your money, and call someone else who doesn’t have any affiliation with a home warranty, and stop paying those service fees that keep you hostage waiting for answers and repairs that never come. Ever wonder why AHS collects the service fee up front, before you even see a repairman?

It’s so you can’t/won’t go elsewhere. Once the tech comes to your home, he can bill for the service fee, which is all the money he is going to get from them. If he can’t do a quick fix, without ordering components, he’ll do it. If he can charge you extra for out-of-your pocket non-covered items, he will do it, or if he can get the claim denied through a contractual loophole he will do that, in order to keep from spending his own money and opening up a can of worms.

Most of AHS’s customers’ equipment is a can of worms, which is why they have a home warranty. If it was going to be a simple, quick fix, the customers would not be filing a claim.

Am I right? Now, knowing this, what will you do?
