The reason for this is the cost per call average the contractors are forced to adhere to. Denials are the first method to keep the contractorsโ€™ average down so they can remain AHS vendors.

The next method is cost deferral through non-covered charges. Performing minimal repairs is another way. The contractors will be fired for their average cost per call going above the dictated amount. For the plumbing and electrical trades, itโ€™s around $120.

For the HVAC trade, itโ€™s around $200. Thatโ€™s either a lot of work done without reimbursement, or a lot of denials and non-covered charges. For every satisfied AHS customer, there are at least 10 unhappy ones, due to those damned cost per call averages. AHS doesnโ€™t want new contractors, because keeping those average costs down is the number one priority.

They donโ€™t want more contractors because itโ€™s eaier to control a few than the masses.

AHS isnโ€™t going to change their business model. It works for them.
