Have had American Home Shield for 1.5 years. About 3 weeks ago, my dryer stopped heating.
They said repairman would call me 30 minutes before arriving, but he never called and I missed him and had to reschedule for 1 week later. So a week later, another repairman came and told me he had to order the part. About 1 week after that, another repairman came and installed the part. When I returned home that evening, I was eager to do my laundry as I had not had a working dryer in almost 3 weeks.
I put a load in the washer and walked the dog. When I returned, my kitchen was flooded with water. Apparently, the repairman knocked the drain hose out of the wall while fixing the dryer and didn't realize it. To top things off, after cleaning up the water mess, I finished the load of laundry, put it in the dryer and the dryer didn't heat up!
I called American Home Shield and was treated with rudeness and disdain by the person I spoke with. She advised me that it would not be until the following week til a new repairman would come out. Plus she told me that they were not responsible for any damage; rather, the insurance company for the repairman's employer would be responsible. By this time I was pretty sure I was going to cancel my policy.
She rudely told me the company would not refund the $100 fee I paid for the lousy service, plus she informed me that there was a cancellation fee of about $45. I told her I wanted to cancel my policy and she warned me that I would not be able to reinstate it in the future!!!
Totally rude nonservice from this company...I don't know how they stay in business. It is not worth the headache of dealing with them.
