American Home Shield review in Las Vegas, Nevada: Unfixed washer

My bank refunded me the $ 100 fee that AHS charged my account. My washing machine was neither fixed or replaced. I suggest just putting aside the money you pay them for future repairs

After we discovered that a plumbing contractor made an error, AHS wants an additional work order request and payment before they will send the contractor to fix his mistake. They should have sent a contractor who could do it right the first time.

I agree with you one hundred percent. I think that incompetence is a requirement for working with AHS.

They get the cheapest contractors that they can find to AHS, And sometimes they are also the most dishonest. One time I had this contractor come to my house who actually faked sending pics to AHS of my broken-down AC unit. He used the to disqualify my claim, only so that he could sell me his own stuff. He wanted to sell me everything from air filters to a new compressor.

I called someone else in for a second opinion and it turned out to be a $100 job which was simply replacing the AC fan.

AHS told me that they never received any photos of my AC unit. I have lived in Las Vegas for the last 45 years and I can tell you with certainty that every type of shady, phoney business of every description resides here

I've had several dealings with this company. None of them were ever good. One time the contractor faked sending in pictures of the problem to AHS. I was denied of course, so then the contractor tried like *** to sell me his services. AHS denied ever receiving the...

Well then that explains why they took out my Rheem 50 gallon self cleaning hot water heater and gave some junk 48 gallon no self cleaning and told me I had to have an overflow tank charged me 750 on top of the 75 and the 55 I pay monthly BUT MY neighbor who has same...

First: It is illegal for a licensed plumber to install any water heater without an expansion tank nowadays. Your neighbor’s plumber is in violation of the law.

Second: home warranty customers are pissed no matter what happens with their claims. Denial? Unhappy. Partial denia?

Unhappy. Covered but parts needed? Unhappy. Replacement?

Unhappy. Cashout? Unhappy. Every single contractor in the USA that works for home warranty companies has AWFUL reviews.

Why do you think that is? And if all the contractors get replaced, the replacement contractors would all have awful reviews. So what is the solution? The only solution I can see is that the customers STOP buying home warranty plans, and take on the responsibility themselves of hiring reputable contractors, and show the home warranty companies that Americans are wiser than they thought.

No lawsuit is going to change the fact that the contractors are doing the work for free as far as AHS and the other warranty companies are concerned. That is the price of getting all the leads. A home warranty company is just a lead service, in which no money will come from the warranty company. They will have to sell the customer some non-covered items, or do the work for free, or find a way to get the claim denied.

This is required by their contractor relations rep. AHS really does not care about anyone, especially the contractors.

You made your choice: the cheapest way ($75) to have a plumber fix the sink, instead of the fastest way, calling a plumber yourself. The AHS plumber gets paid $100 in total, of which you already paid most of that to AHS when you filed your request.

He won’t get the $100 for weeks. He has to buy at minimum a cartridge for your faucet that can cost as much as $60-75, and pay gas and labor to come back. There is no profit in that for him. He has to keep his business going financially In Order to be able to come back to see you again.

He will focus on all the other incoming AHS work orders so he doesn’t lose them, while he Works you and your part back onto his schedule. Meanwhile, YOU could research the cartridge (through Home Depot, Lowe’s or the local plumbing supply house or even online) to find the part yourself. You can watch YouTube videos of how to install it. That is the cheapest and fastest way to get your faucet back up and running.

If the faucet needs to be replaced, most plumbers charge retail customers (not through Home warranties) $150 labor to install a faucet that the customer supplies. Going through AHS means that the plumber still only gets paid $100 after several weeks, and he has to supply the faucet AND the labor. There is no incentive to hurry back to lose money, and in the meantime, AHS is sending him all the plumbing calls in the region because he’s doing the work at a loss, for them. If he doesn’t keep serving the new incoming work orders fast enough, he will not get any more.

He gets paid based on the first trip to your house, NOT each subsequent visit, NOR the parts he has to supply with his own money. I’m telling you this because a home warranty is not the fastest way to get service, which is your complaint. You want an instant fix, but you didn’t pay for an instant fix. It is available, however, from the myriad of plumbers in your area, and most people can replace a cartridge (if that’s what is needed) on their own for as little as $25.

Cheap and fast aren’t possible with a home warranty.

This is not what you want to hear, of course, but this is the business model. You’re just lucky your claim isn’t denied, because that’s what happens whenever possible.
