I scheduled AHS to have a tech come out and look at my HVAC unit. After the tech came out, he indicated the evaporator coils were rusted and needed to be replaced.

So he sent notes to AHS and AHS partially approved the claim.

In their notice (attached), they said I'd have to pay $1,366 out of pocket because rust wasn't covered under my policy. I looked at my policy and rust IS covered.

After calling them and dealing with non-helpful customer service reps (which I think is intentional), they then changed the story to "oh that's the cost to put refrigerant into the HVAC unit" which is nonsense because they did not list that in the correspondence.

They noted refrigerant had to be placed in the HVAC (duh if the evaporator coils were rusted / leaking refrigerant) but the correspondence did not indicate that was the reason for the $1,366 charge.

I definitely will NOT renew my policy with them at the end of this contract. What a ripoff!

User's recommendation: Save yourself the trouble and don't purchase a policy. OR if you know you have something that needs repaired ask first if the company covers it under warranty & be very specific about your issue.

Monetary Loss: $7887.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
