They stay in business because people keep buying the plans. In fact, they are so busy, they are the number 1 home warranty company on the market.

However, they have thousands of complaints, and everyone knows that doing business with them is essentially gambling. It’s a dice game whether or not you will come out ahead or lose your bet. Odds are in AHS’ favor, since the contractors must keep their average per claim billing down to such an extremely low, set amount. Almost all home warranty claims are major repairs (or else, why would the customer carry a home warranty?) but the contractors can’t spend AHS’s money on them or they risk losing all their future AHS business.

So they have no choice but to bandaid and patch, or get claims denied, in order to avoid repairing/replacing at their own expense. You must have just been luckier than most the first year.

American Home Shield in Homosassa, Florida - Had a bad expierence

with home shield and their co that does their work .we are cancelling the warranty and so is my daughter .she has also had bad experience they put in a compressor last may .not even one year later the compressor has burned up haven't had air for going on 3 weeks.they keep giving me the run around.now they say they will put another air compressor in we have to pay 500.00 for Freon .not acceptial.we went to another co and a new air condition is being installed.I have been paying home shield 41.00 a month but no more I am disappointed in this company I will not recommend them to any one.

American Home Shield in Jacksonville, Florida - Suck *** Service

Horrible service. Customer service sucks. They scheduled an appointment that I called and confirmed with them the prior day. I wait all morning for the plumber and he's a no show. I called the service number and they tell me since I didn't confirm the appt the plumber went to another job and won't be able to service me today. Not to mention I 've waited all week for this appt and I'd already confirmed it, as I mentioned before. Of course I'm upset over the issue. Yet, the customer service girl jumped down my throat telling me she's not the one I should be mad at because she's not the plumber that skips the job, even though the guy I was speaking to prior told me that she submitted the unconfirmed time. I wasn't even worried about her I just wanted to get my issue serviced and over with. She continued to be combative with me and tells me there's no manager there I can speak with and that she'll have someone call me.*** poor service.I will never use this company again!!!!

I have been without a consistently working air conditioning unit for 2 MONTHS! We have had 8 visits from technicians, luckily all covered under the first $75 service fee (but not including the near $500 we paid for Freeon). The customer service representatives are not helpful and unreliable. I have requested to speak to a manager twice and emailed once. We have received NO response from any type of management. Are these people running themselves with no authority? I am so mad we have spent so much money on this company and I feel like they are trying to wait until our 1 year warranty runs out so they don't have to cover the cost of our repair. The vendors they have referred us to have been horrible and totally unprofessional. Every tech they have sent has said something different is wrong. Horrible, horrible, horrible.

American Home Shield in Panama City, Florida - EVERY SUMMER and WINTER

We've had AHS since 2010 the house ac unit we were told was going to need replacing soon and that's why we got the warranty. This just isn't you basic one either it's top of the line cost me almost $800 a year. EVERY SUMMER my AC unit goes down at least 3 times and once in the winter. The system is extremely old out dated yet AHS REFUSE TO REPLACE THE UNIT, they constantly just do band-aid touch up that works for maybe 2 months and cost me $75 each time. In the last 3 years we've had this warranty we've paid out of pocket enough money just on the AC to replace the system twice over. This is a horrid company other companies are far better. Again I'm stuck without AC this summer until they can figure out what to do and I have young kids suffering in the heat.
