In May 2016 I requested repairs through American Home Shield (AHS) for our dishwasher door and oven range hood. AHS assigned Carnes Appliances and Contracting (CAC) to the repair, who sent out their office manager (not a technician) to our house. The Carnes employee took some pictures of the appliances, called their office, took the required $75 trade fee, and left.
Weeks went by and we tried to contact CAC about the repair but they did not answer email or phone calls. AHS also attempted to contact them multiple times. Eventually my wife and I paid for the repairs on our own through a local company.
After further investigation, it is clear that AHS assigned our repairs to a disreputable business and contractor (see the Better Business Bureau’s record, http://www.bbb.org/columbus-georgia/business-reviews/appliances-major-service-and-repair/lagrange-appliance-electronic-in-hogansville-ga-91804903, and this public Facebook page with customer complaints, https://www.facebook.com/carnesappliance/).
I contacted AHS several times to ask for a refund of this trade fee and was told that AHS would not provide a refund. I will be glad to never deal with AHS (or their shady contractors) again.
I want nothing further to do with American Home Shield’s home insurance services and would not ever recommend them. For more information on how terrible American Home Shield is, see these third party reviews: http://home-warranty-company-reviews.com/american-home-shield-american-home-shield-reviews/
The Better Business Bureau is mediating this dispute which is yet to be resolved.
Reason of review: Poor customer service.
