Home warranty plans are not savings accounts nor investments for homeowners to set aside funds earmarked for home repairs. Insurance is a scam regardless what type it is.
They don’t pay the bill and you get whatever you want. They’d never make any money doing that. Instead, the AHS contractors are on a starvation diet of incredibly small portions of money on each claim, and the amount is close to what the service call fee is. So for $75, everyone expects the contractor to bring everyone out a new whatever, but what they don’t understand is that the home warranty doesn’t pay the contractor any more money than the service fee, nor do they provide the equipment!
If parts and equipment are ordered, it will be the contractor paying for it, not AHS. That’s why the contractor isnt interested in anything but denials, non-covered charges, and bandaid repairs. To fix the problem, AHS would have to lift the average cost per call cap, which ain’t gonna happen! It would be a feeding frenzy and AHS would lose billions of dollars they are getting to keep by skirting their obligations.
The contractors are the ones insuring and providing the warranty, at their own expense the way things are now. Why would AHS change that? Besides, they don’t need to! It’s working fine now, as they see it.
They get plenty of new customers, and realtors believe home warranties help sell houses. Plenty of AHS customers have been with them for a decade or more. They either don’t mind waiting it out for repairs or they never have to use it. All that money WASTED that could go into their own repair slush fund.
People with the home warranty mentality will try another home warranty company before anything else, so lots of customers warranty hop, thinking the grass is greener with a different company. It’s not, they all use slave labor and make the contractors buy the parts and equipment, in order to force prices down to an unsustainable level.

- Lack of service
- Being on hold and simply awful incompetent service

Cancel AHS and when an appliance needs repair, contact a local repairman and pay yourself. I think you now know how really bad these warranty companies are in providing service, altho they seem to take your money quickly.
The odds are ever in THEIR favor. If you’ve had AHS for over 13 years, you should know this.
All those contractors you have met over the years through AHS are also available for low-cost retail work without the wait. You will have a totally different experience with them if you don’t go through AHS. Customers need to stop griping about AHS if they continue to line up for this treatment.
You really just want to save money and time, but you can’t have both. Gotta choose

Without a home warranty, kitchen Faucet replacement from a certified plumber is $125 for Labor and you provide the new faucet of your choice. A home warranty is useless, and the job is not that expensive. Word to the wise: save up your money and take care of these issues yourself.

The plumber is not a Sheetrock person. Access is up to the customer, and the holes are up to the customer.
“Access” is not exactly “Damage” To make an omelet, you have to break a few eggs. After 5 weeks, you should move on.
Call a handyman or better yet a painter and get the hole fixed properly. Cancel the home warranty and you’ll have enough in the future to pay for repairs that don’t take 5+ weeks!
