American Home Shield review in Gilbert, Arizona: DISABLED LEFT IN HEAT WAVE WITH NO AIR CONDITIONING
Update by user Jul 15
After 3 days of calls with people who can't speak decent English in India or wherever I got a person in GA who then got me to a person in Memphis who was the FIRST person that actually seemed to think I had a problem. She arranged for Moore Air to come out the next day...
You’re better off buying a couple of window units. Those things really work!
I’ve lived with window units and space heaters for several years. There is no shame in using them. It is, however, a shame to pay good money to a home warranty instead of hiring a licensed contractor yourself.
Then you will get to decide yourself when the system needs replacing and you will have control over the situation. Plan B: window units and save up your money to buy a system
American Home Shield review in Peoria, Arizona: Not satisfied
Someone in your position with health issues should not use a home warranty. Don’t tell me you stayed in a hot house all that time, without a backup window unit or portable AC, or another system elsewhere in the house?
If you did, then that’s just stupid on your part. A home warranty should never be used, but especially for emergencies. There is no money in doing AHS work for the contractor, and they are overrun with calls, because of all the cheapskates who don’t want to pay for retail service. Emergencies don’t really exist in home warranty world.
The only emergency is caused by your unwillingness to use your own guy who came right away, and offered suggestions that would have corrected the problem within 24-48hours. You could have taken the AHS cashout option, and hired your own contractor.
Of course, you’d have to pay for it in full up front, and wait on your check from AHS. They don’t ever pay retail or emergency rates, so of course you’d be only partially covered, but what did you really expect?

We have had almost the exact same experience, except they haven't cancelled our policy yet. This company is horrible!
We have contacted an attorney, and The Arizona Board of Insurance.
You might try filing a complaint through the latter organization. They have gotten AHS to finally call us back.
