After we discovered that a plumbing contractor made an error, AHS wants an additional work order request and payment before they will send the contractor to fix his mistake. They should have sent a contractor who could do it right the first time.

I agree with you one hundred percent. I think that incompetence is a requirement for working with AHS.

They get the cheapest contractors that they can find to AHS, And sometimes they are also the most dishonest. One time I had this contractor come to my house who actually faked sending pics to AHS of my broken-down AC unit. He used the to disqualify my claim, only so that he could sell me his own stuff. He wanted to sell me everything from air filters to a new compressor.

I called someone else in for a second opinion and it turned out to be a $100 job which was simply replacing the AC fan.

AHS told me that they never received any photos of my AC unit. I have lived in Las Vegas for the last 45 years and I can tell you with certainty that every type of shady, phoney business of every description resides here

The rep wasn’t lying when she said they negotiate to a great scale. It’s more like price fixing than negotiating.

AHS gives the contractor an average per ticket cost cap, and they could care less how it works out for anybody but themselves. It’s not fun being one of their contractors, either.

Roto Rooter will unclog your main line with same day emergency service for less than $200, and guarantee it won’t clog for 90 days. You people are so stupid to depend on a home warranty to solve home ownership and rental property maintenance!

How can they possibly do what they say they will?! Save your money. Call the local people and shop around. You had DAYS of waiting, in which you could have found another way.

You can’t make AHS or any home warranty change the way they operate—just not gonna happen. Why should they? They use contracted slave labor whose entire business revolves around this scam. The contractors are being misled, too, about the potential from doing their dirty work.

It’s all a scam. If AHS is forced to “cover” a repair, the contractor only gets paid the customer’s service fee, and has to provide all the parts and materials for free OR they can find a way to bilk the customer for non-covered charges. Extra long Delays are so common, that their customers should all expect to need other arrangements for their families while they wait. The contractors are so few and so covered up with new AHS service calls and other AHS customers who have been demanding someone come back and finish their repair, that the contractors are buried alive.

Nobody wants to wait—everyone is Urgent. Everyone makes up newborn babies and elderly suffering to try to jump ahead. MONEY will get results. DOLLARS.

Real American DOLLARS. That’s all it takes.

I have a leak in the plumbing inside my house and called AHS at which time I had to pay the copay before anyone ever came to see the problem. This morning, the plumbers came, spent all of 5 minutes and determined they did not see any leaks, wrote that on the receipt and left. I am out $100 and nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING has been done. I am cancelling this warranty service!

That is the name of this game. You should not count on a home warranty, especially for emergencies, because the contractors are only paid the $125 and nothing more, even if they do the job.

The contractors are gambling that they will be able to get AHS to deny the claim due to a loophole, and then keep the $125 and offer to sell you what you need. Clearly, most people will not buy anything else from the contractor and they are upset that the $125 is gone, used to pay the contractor for coming out to diagnose. Even if the item is covered, AHS does not pay any more money toward this repair. Either the contractor will have to do it for nothing, even providing the parts or equipment which he has to pay for, which will take 3 forevers because he’s doing it for free, or he will pass on some hyper-inflated non-covered access charges, or modification fees to you, the homeowner.

If he can patch the broken item back together to get it in working order for a few more weeks, he will, because it’s better for him than having to buy you new equipment or expensive parts. In any case, the homeowner has no say in the outcome of your claim and AHS doesn’t care; nor do the contractors, beyond the extent of how much you are willing to pay to resolve the emergency. Health problems, hazardous conditions, small children, elderly people, secondary damage—all irrelevant unless you have money to spend with them. Just like calling any other contractor.

They’ll be glad to help if money is involved. In home warranty work, there is no money changing hands, therefore no work takes place. AHS won’t LET the contractors charge them for the work, or they will be fired. The contractors who play the game properly are in it for the service fee only, and a high volume of AHS work orders.

They have to hustle to get enough work orders to make up for the losses on the jobs they can’t denied.

One work order completed equals 20-30 denials. That’s where your $125 went.
