First call: My AC was broken. AHS denied the replacement of the unit even though the technician told me that there is no possible repair but he cannot say that to AHS. He requested $800,oo (to refill) since AHS does not cover for gas + 100 for the visit. $900,oo for refilling the AC without guarantee that it will work! My husband (Howard) and I have been loyal American Home Shield customers for over 30 years. We have made less than 5 claims in those years. If you want the words "it is our policy" then they are the company to use.They cannot and will not tell the customer the truth or step outside of their comfort zone to try to help....they have left me with no air conditioning for 6 days so far and I am 62 with high blood pressure and going through menopause. First, American Home Shield sent me a lesser contract than what I paid for. After repeated requests they corrected the contract but not until I had already paid someone else to fix a water heater. Then my toilet was not flushing and they sent a plumber with only a few tools. He was totally inept. I had to provide several tools to him so he could try to do his job. He left without finishing. I have a home warranty through AHS and have had an open order for over 1 month. I have tried to call AHS and never get my call picked up through the customer service # . Expect calls to American Home Shield to be received by automated calling systems. Expect your wait time for an actual representative to be at least 45 minutes. Expect that you may have to wait on hold for a representative for upwards of 2 hours. Expect that the representative you finally get to speak to may be discourteous, unhelpful, unsympathetic or just downright rude. Expect that what you think is an emergency situation may be treated by AHS...

I purchased a home warranty through AHS. A request was sent the plumber on Monday afternoon. I called the plumber myself to set up the actual appointment time. He was actually early. We showed him the problem areas. He seemed to be knowable. He took the shower apart and at first noted there was no problem there. He quickly dismissed the drain.. big mistake. He even blamed us stating we were splashing the water and it was dripping down the walls.

I am a property manager, and we have quite a few properties covered under AHS.Every time I make a phone call to them I have to wait over 30 minutes. There isn't one time when I've been helped faster than 30 minutes unless you talk to the people who sell you new contracts.
