A.H.S. stands for " A horrible scam!" This company KNOWINGLY rips off consumers.

It took them 7 weeks to repair my refrigerator - during which time I was repeatedly lied to about parts being ordered, passed off to a subcontractor without being notified, promised return calls that never came and finally....being laughed at by customer service and being told so what if I have a long wait time- they got lots of other customers in the same boat! It took many angry and persistent calls on my part to finally get anything done.

The fridge STILL barely works.AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. IS AT BEST A JOKE, AT WORST A SCAM!!!!

Product or Service Mentioned: American Home Shield Protection Plan.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Please understand, the reason they don’t satisfy the customers is because they don’t pay the contractors any more than the service fee you paid, and the conTractor is expected to cover all costs associated with repair or even replacement; including buying you parts or new equipment. You see, the contractors are on a fixed average pricing model that they must comply with or lose their contract.

For example, the appliance company in your situation likely has an average cost per ticket total requirement of $150 per ticket. Your repair likely cost HIM more than he can charge AHS, so he loses money on your call. It will take him several “no malfunction” calls or several claim denial calls to make up for the loss he incurred on your order. Gas, labor, parts, and overhead all cost money, and he has to absorb anything over $150, or he has to start beating the bushes looking for new ways to get business, with a tarnished reputation, thanks to working in the home warranty field.

All home warranties are junk, and always will be, because of this false equation.

You can’t get good service when the contractors are losing money working. Simple fact.
