American Home Shield is such a joke!!!! Do NOT bother to take out a policy. They are totally not worth it!!! Our air conditioning finally broke after being serviced for several years and now they will only install the most basic of units. We have had a plan for 9 years and now they want to give us a substandard unit (one that would be put in spec homes). We have put over 5,000 dollars into this plan and they are not true to their policy. ...

We call to have our AC unit looked at.It is 28 years old. The compressor is going bad and it is not cooling or working. They tell us they opt to repair (yes, repair a unit that is over twice it's lifespan). The repair for our part will cost $1200. So we pay for a home warranty, utilize it for a broken AC unit that the TECHNICIAN tells us needs to be replaced, and then they opt to repair it at what would be about 1/3 the cost of a brand new one....

I've had terrible experiences with AHS's HVAC contractors. The last episode involved replacing coils and Freon (of which AHS only pays a fraction to recharge, even though Freon leaking is due to defective parts not anything else). But, in order to do the repairs the guys said I would have to pay an additional $1,600 do bring unit up to code, etc. I had someone else come in, they said that was ***. Since the contractors make very little money on...

My AC went out the 4th of July, Average daily temps since then has been in the 110'F and above. It now has been 19 days with out AC in my bedrooms, excuses and a $750.00 bill for non covered refrigerant and still no AC. I ended up purchasing my own portable AC unit so we can sleep in our own bed. AHS assigned AC contractor is worthless, the only time of the year when you really need there help, and they operate as if they work with banking...

The repairmen and companies they use have terrible ratings and do inadequate work. And the time it takes to get something repaired is completely absurd. Our air conditioner has been out now for 5 days, with temperatures over 95 degrees. They are impossible to deal with. I feel like we have been scammed. By the time they actually come to do the work, I will be worn down to just paying whatever they charge me. Definitely not going to waste the...

I have had American home shield service contract for over 10 years last year my air conditioner was not working so I called ahs and had it repaired. Last week the same air conditioner was not working so I once again called ahs for service. The service technician found a blue substance in the unit and called has for authorization. They declined saying it was not covered even though they are the only company who has EVER worked on the unit....

There is nothing more disappointing than paying a monthly service for American Home Shield Warranty and then you try to actually use the service you pay for and they come up way short on what they claim. They had an AC company out and I had to pay $325 which consisted of the service call fee & Freon. Then in just a few days I turn the AC on and it's not cooling again. I call American Home Shield Warranty again and the agent informs me that I...

I called AHS on the 21st of April. They suggested a company called Second Opinion Heat and Air in Oklahoma City, OK. It has been a back and forth game of excuses. One will say they are waiting on the other, one will say they are ordering parts and the other will say, "what parts?" I am currently on hold to cancel my policy with the first 30 days. I suggest you do the same. We are very hot waiting on an extremely simple repair. The blower motor...

While setting up service for a heating/ac system that wasn't working, the rep told me AHS would only pay $10 per pound of refrigerant, should it prove necessary. The actual cost? $75 per pound after the AHS payment. I paid and the system is working, thanks to a very good tech, but the episode sent me scurrying back to our policy, since I'd received notice from AHS it was renewal time. Their exclusions make it clear they don't intend to spend much...
