We purchased our first home in April and our realtor provided one year of American Home Shield Home Warranty. He opted for the "plus" package, I believe because the air conditioning units would be covered as well. Well, last week our dishwasher started leaving a crazy thick residue on everything on the bottom rack and it wasn't draining properly. So we used the online tool to request a service check on the dishwasher. We received a prompt phone call and had someone there within 2 hours of our filing a request.

The serviceman arrives, actually asks us to leave him alone and within 15 minutes tells us that the dishwasher is draining fine, just a little slowly and that it needs a new pump. Fast forward two days and AHS calls and leaves a message that the repair will not be covered because we abused the dishwasher by putting food in it so they won't repair.

We didn't put food in, but if that is the way they are going to play, ok. So we pull the manual for the dishwasher which describes in detail the system installed in the dishwasher for dealing with food particles, naming items like fruit seeds, egg shells and other things. So we call AHS to tell them that if they are stating misuse due to food items being in the dishwasher, Whirlpool states that the appliance is meant to have food in it. Three hours on the phone, they cut us off because they are closing and finally tell us that if the repair guy will change his statement they will reconsider. So, we have to call the repair guy who is PISSED that we are calling him and tells us that if AHS wants to say that they will call him. Still unresolved. At this point, I want my $60 fee back and I'll just never call them again. What a waste!!!

:( I just left messages with all of the above mentioned people. I threatened to call the BBB is they don't cover my claim.

Thanks so much for the numbers!! This company s**ks and they need to own up to what they promise when you sign up!

If you are disgusted with AHS's business tactics, customer relations AND DENIAL OF TRUE, VALID CLAIMS (ie: Breach of Contract)....

If you're seeking CEO David Crawford's voicemail - here's how.

Dial 1-866-305-0259 as stated above. When the phone system says "Thank you for calling American Home Shield.... please enter your Representative's Extension" -

DO THE FOLLOWING:

Enter Ext. # 1000

The Greeting will then say: "Welcome to Avia Messaging, please enter the mailbox # of the person you are calling.... IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE MAILBOX NUMBER, PRESS STAR (*) TO SPELL THE NAME"....

After that sentence, IMMEDIATELY PRESS STAR (*) - then spell David Crawford's LAST NAME:

just input, "CRAW".... you will then be taken to: DAVE CRAWFORD'S VOICEMAIL....

Kindly leave your message.

If you want to call bluff - redial the 1-866 number above, go to Ext. 1000 and then input Judy's Extension "2100" (Judy Peedic - The Executive Assistant to David Crawford) - it will take you to her voicemail (or she will pick up) - so the Avia Messaging System is that of AHS...

Also, another Executive Assistant to David Crawford is a person by the name of "Matthew Boyd" his extension is 2103 at the same 1-866 number listed above (again, his extension also works in the Avia Messaging System @ AHS).

I hope American Home Shield makes right on alot of the breach of contract issues... :)
