AHS sent a plumber that could not fix my plumbing
My tub drain stopper started leaking, and when the lever was pulled up the water in the tub would slowly leak out. The other bath shower drain was clogging up. I called AHS to send out a plumber. This was the first time I had called for service on my home warranty. The plumber who came out snaked the shower and fixed the clog. He proceeded to snake the tub which had not been clogged, and clogged it up so that it would no longer drain and the sink water started backing up into the tub, spraying black goop all over the walls. He said he could not fix the drain stopper until the main drain was snaked to try and unclogged it, and it would need to be snaked through the roof. AHS would not authorize him to go through the roof clean out. The said I needed to call another plumber to come out and clean out the main lines and then they would send him back out. When I spoke to AHS later to see about sending him back out they said I needed to hire my plumber to install a ground clean out for the pipes before he could come out. And when their plumber did come back out that he could not replace the tub drain stopper. So I paid $60 for a plumber to come out and clog up my pipes. Wells Fargo had sent out the AHS warranty paperwork so that if I took out the warranty, they would add it to my mortgage. I promptly called AHS and Wells Fargo to cancel. And I am stuck with paying for another plumber to come and fix the whole mess! Why would Wells Fargo go with this Warranty company? What a scam.

An Obvious Ripoff
Our microwave oven gave out after 21 years -- the magnetron quit. Not bad for a microwave to last that long. We called AHS and they sent a company out to check it out. Sure enough, it was dead. The repairman said he'd get us a replacement. He said there is some rust in the microwave from friction caused by the glass plate moving about when items are placed inside the microwave and taken out. Not surprising since we have used the microwave about 100,000 times in the past 21 years (about 15 times a day). He said nothing about us doing anything wrong. Then the next day I get a call from AHS telling me our claim was rejected -- "improper maintenance" (this is their classic way of getting out of fixing things). Let me get this straight -- a microwave lasts 21 years and has normal wear and tear due to a lot of use and we didn't maintain it right? What were we supposed to do -- take the magnetron out and clean it every couple of weeks? Spray Rustoleum into the microwave after each use? Ridiculous. AHS is sending another company out for a second opinion. I hope this one ends better.

List Removal/Respect for Privacy
American Home Shield has been asked repeatedly to remove my e-mail address and stop sending me their solicitations, for the past 2 months I have requested removal, they keep sending the e-mails. When I try to remove and submit, the message I get is "web page not found" this company is just plain ignorant, I tell everyone I know what they do, I do not own the home I live in, the homeowner has coverage (Thank GOD,it is not these jerks) yet they are persistent in their ads which to me is harassment above and beyond what any consumer should have to deal with, NO means NO.

Cancelling E-mail Listing
I have attempted daily for 15 days to have my e-mail address removed from their listings to no avail. I am tired of their trash notifications and would not do business with AHS or with any Service Master connected company or individual. I would like to see the scam artists that operate this system arrested and placed in a location so dark and dank that they may never see the light again. I do not subscribe to a service and pay that service to receive unsolicited garbage from AHS on a daily basis. Perhaps the FCC should require that they have a WORKING opt out function on their ads or face a $100,000 per day/per incident for non compliance.

A disappointment of a company
Had this company for a number of years. Barely used for repairs. When we really needed them for a replacement sump pump,(heavy rain in area), no plumber responded. After several calls to company, they sent out a plumber that improperly installed a plastic pump(warrantied for 45 days!). The float was hitting the side of the wall. Company would refuse to respond to our approximate 15 calls to them. This included upper management employees as well. Company tried to say we had a "box" in the way, hard to do repair! It was four thin pieces of wood to cover the hole in the corner. Before a plumber was to arrive, we "lifted" off the so called box. It's funny because four years ago, the same company came in and repaired with a good quality pump, not some plastic garbage. Save your money people, look elsewhere for a reputable company. This one went downhill all the way!!!

American Home Shield is garbage
I have been living in my home for around 7 months now, and I've had to contact AHS 5 different times to fix just my A/C unit. When I tell them they are not FIXING the problem, they blow me off and tell me to pony up another $60 service fee and they'll see what they can do. Now it's my good fortune to have both my A/C go out again AND my furnace *** out a few days later. AHS is supposed to replace units if they are beyond repair. That has not happened in my case and I have even had one technician tell me I should have had my A/C unit replaced on the first go around (the compressor *** out), but since the last time was just a relay switch problem, he could do nothing about it. AHS is not worth the money.

Shoddy repair job, AHS won't make good.
AHS contractor, Sears/A&E Tech, installed ill-fitting universal parts which devalues my appliance and my property. AHS does not stand behind the shoddy repair job and their escalated rep, Jason, accused me of "just wanting to get a new appliance." My response, "isn't that fair if you can't get properly fitting parts? And, isn't that what I've been paying you for?" American Home Shield wants to get out of paying any claims. And Sears keeps closing out the repair order, requiring them to come out multiple times. BTW, Sears people give you attitude. Do not get American Home Shield insurance!!!

Was told it would be Monday for service (wed call)
Called in a problem on Wednesday evening (12-22-10, was told on Thursday it would be Monday (12-27) before they could provide service. I called the comapny to request another service provider. AHS refused to see if another company was available. I belive they have financial interest in Greenway so that is the only compaany they want to use. If they do, it should be dislcosed in their information. I believe they are not being truthful to their customers about why they only want to use 1 provider. It should not take 5 days, even during a holiday. I called another appliance repair comapany and was able to get them out today.

Would not pay back my service charge
I had 2 insurance policies for my 2 homes in Florida provided by American Home Shield. One of my homes had a airconditioning problem. I called for service and paid them the 60 dollars service call they require on my credit card. Two days later they said they could not find a repairman. I found one and submitted the bill to them. Needless to say, they not only failed to pay my out of pocket expenses for the repair but did not reimburse my 60 dollars I put on my credit card. I tried numerous times to contact them but kept getting the run around. I cancelled both of my policies when they came due in September.

Bought home with this service provided. Furnace went out 12/19/10 - so just a tad cold outside. Called and they scheduled their workers. Told if I don't hear from them in 2 hours to call them back. Well, of course, I didn't hear from them so I called back. I was advised at that time I could get an outside company to repair it since it is the furnace but to call them after I select the comapny for the 'reimbursement procedures'. Made appt., called them back. This person bascially called me a liar that I couldn't have outside authorization and they wouldn't pay. Long story short, went to the 'escalated' dept, where she had all these notes but refused to help and 'apologized for their staff's error in not explaining it clearly to me' but they refuse to pay. Asked for next supervisor and after holding for 17 minutes they came back and said they couldn't get one to the phone and would transfer me to a specific individual and they would call me back. Today is 12/21 and I haven't heard from this person or anyone. So, here I am, on hold with yet another person telling me that all she sees is they scheduled someone to come and that is it. No notes on all the other phone calls or problems so ... you guessed it, they wont reimburse. Onto the next person to argue with!!

American Home Shield Rip-Off
Bought home that had home warranty from American Home Shield --- sump pump goes out after three months; they are happy to get someone out immediately to collect $60 service call but find a reason why that particular pump is not covered . . . quoting some arcane section of contract (laundry pump not covered, has to be permanent groundwater pump). $60 can not even be applied to out-of-pocket expense bc Quality Plumbing in St. Joseph, Mich. doesn't work on that type of pump. I knew while I was waiting for the call back that I'd be SOL after reading all of the bad press this company has gotten. At least I didn't pay extra for this worthless coverage (except for the $60 service fee!) I would have felt like a complete sucker if I had purchased this coverage.

American Home Shield is a Nightmare
Buying an American Home Shield Service was a dreadful mistake. I would have saved hundreds arranging my own repairs. If you are considering using this company you can expect an enormous contast between the friendly service operators who answer your call and the AHS authorization department who must "okay" repairs. AHS sent Sears to inspect my broken dishwasher in April and told me it was fine (I paid the $96 New York service charge). It broke again 65 days later and AHS told me it was past the "60 day recall period so you'll have to pay $96 again." I waited two weeks for Sears to come again. It broke again twice over the next two months and I twice missed work after Sears called the scheduled service morning to say they couldn't make it that day- AHS could not get another company in my area to come insead of Sears. Virtually the idential problem happened when my clothes dryer broke. This time it again took 4 visits (including another cancellation by Sears at 7PM after waiting from 1PM) and my irate call to a supervisor before AHS would pay to replace the dryer. When the water heater needed a repair the plumber was very nice but complained that AHS gave him an incredibly hard time authorizing covered parts. The final kicker to this story is that I just got a letter from AHS saying they would not renew my policy for another year. I paid over $1100 dollars in service fees beyond the contract charge and "uncovered" parts so it's more than ironic that I would have considered renewing with them anyway. Would have been cheaper to just call repair people on my own. Avoid this company!

American Home Shield Lies
Had an Air Conditioner evaporator coil go out. American home shield said they would pay $700 towards the repair. We had Arctic Air do the repairs - never received payment from AHS. When they called for me to renew - I gave them a piece of my mind. They said send the invoice from Arctic Air and they would pay. I sent invoice, then they changed their story. Said they had already paid Arctic Air. Arctic Air says no - that was normal discount for an AHS referral. Scam - they do not pay. by they way, the were willing to pay $700 - actual cost was $1,700 !!!!

AHS warranty consumer fraud
12/09 AHS enhanced home warranty contract purchased. I paid $488.00 in monthly debit installments of 40.67. Beginning April 2010 through October 2010 in excess of 15 service calls and four different "authorized service Contractors" came to repair the covered air conditioning unit and it was never repaired properly. We remained with out air-conditioning for the majority of the summer. In June, I was told HMS was contracted to put in a" new " condenser coil. The work was not completed until June 9 and did not fix the problem, in fact a "new" coil was not replaced but rebuilt. On June 12 Meyers Air Conditioning and Heating LLC, an "authorized service contractor" was sent to repair the unit and they determined the unit needed a new evaporator coil. With that I received a call from an AHS representative indicating $650.00 worth of "code upgrades" a float switch, duct work and auxiliary drain pan were needed to be done that were not covered by the warranty. They would not provide a second opinion and only offered a "cash out" and hire some one myself. The cash out did not cover the cost of the repairs. I continued to indicate that code upgrades were not necessary to install the evaporator coil. In fact, Meyers never did the "upgrade work" and what they did do did not repair the air conditioning unit. AHS is well aware of the "out of contract" quotes given by their "authorized service contractors" and creates the situation which allows both of them to perpetrate this fraud. If the work had not been called "code upgrades and duct work" the repairs would have been covered under the contract. The authorized contractors are well aware how to manipulate the system set in place by AHS and create costs to the consumer which directly benefits them. This scam was then run a second time when Cahaba Contractors ordered a new condenser and refused to install it until I paid a disposal fee of $150.00. Again a fee outside the contract. The unit was not properly repaired and another "authorized service agent", Valiant came out and replaced a part that Cahaba had incorrectly installed. I had to pay a $60.00 service fee. The air conditioning unit again failed and Valiant returned. This time the problem was the "duct work" and I was told that AHS should never had paid for anything because the wrong duct work is installed in the house. He wanted to charge me $750.00. AHS then took the position that this work fell outside the contract and they were not obligated to repair the unit pursuant to the warranty. This is the same scam new players perpetrated by AHS and its authorized service contractors. I filed complaints with the AL Attorney Generals office and the heating and air conditioning licensing board. I finally hired a reputable company, which repaired the unit and had to re do the work of Meyers. I paid out of pocket $656.00. AHS continued to say they were not liable but to "settle the matter" they would reimburse me $741.12 representing the cost of repairs, return of the service fee and the balance of contract fee of 25.12 less an administration fee. I demanded the return of the cost of the contract and to cancel the last month of service with them. It has been their position that I am not entitle to a refund pursuant to their contract even though AHS breached the contract, did not provide the services and continues in a pattern of behavior which defrauds the consumer. It is a numbers game, they pay off the complainers but still get to keep the premiums

AHS is money collecting co. Just two answers " not covered" or "nothing wrong". They will not replace anything...
I had AHS at one time. Everytime I had them come out they told me it "wasn't covered". What a waste of my money.
