Beware of Servicemaster Companies

I read reviews like these on the internet 2-3 years ago when I signed up for American Home Shield coverage. I called the company and a sales guy said he was aware of them, but that they represented a small percentage of customers and the company was working to improve....

Sir,

Im in nashville, similar boat, only with the heat and air system. I recommend you file a complaint with the state attorney general - BBB is just a hangout, has no legal repercussions. The AG does!

An electric service call was placed for an attic and both fan. Both making bad sounds. The attic fan located above a bedroom and the day it started to make noise the temperature in that room rose 10 degrees. The electrician claims it is only noise, however, put on...

If you are disgusted with AHS's business tactics, customer relations AND DENIAL OF TRUE, VALID CLAIMS (ie: Breach of Contract)....

Here's some info:

If you're seeking CEO David Crawford's voicemail - here's how.

Dial 1-86*-***-**** as stated above. When the phone system says "Thank you for calling American Home Shield.... please enter your Representative's Extension" -

DO THE FOLLOWING:

Enter Ext. # 1000

The Greeting will then say: "Welcome to Avia Messaging, please enter the mailbox # of the person you are calling.... IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE MAILBOX NUMBER, PRESS STAR (*) TO SPELL THE NAME"....

After that sentence, IMMEDIATELY PRESS STAR (*) - then spell David Crawford's LAST NAME:

just input, "CRAW".... you will then be taken to: DAVE CRAWFORD'S VOICEMAIL....

Kindly leave your message.

If you want to call bluff - redial the 1-866 number above, go to Ext. 1000 and then input Judy's Extension "2100" (Judy Peedic - The Executive Assistant to David Crawford) - it will take you to her voicemail (or she will pick up) - so the Avia Messaging System is that of AHS...

Also, another Executive Assistant to David Crawford is a person by the name of "Matthew Boyd" his extension is 2103 at the same 1-866 number listed above (again, his extension also works in the Avia Messaging System @ AHS).

I hope American Home Shield makes right on alot of the breach of contract issues... :)

PASS THE INFO ON TO ANY SITE YOU SEE THAT CONTAINS AHS COMPLAINTS!!!

Agreement Number: 22499**** Agreement Price: $305.00 Agreement Term: 10/19/17 – 10/18/18 To whom is may concern: I have been trying to get thru to someone for days. I have tried calling a dozen times.

I have been on hold for over 45 minutes “then cut off” or when entering a number as told you get the busy single. After getting thru I asked for a supervisor. Then put on hold to be cut off or busy single. Worker can to fix my fan over my stove.

It does not suck, and making a chirping nose. I went on line to see there are hundreds of complaints just like I am telling you. You need to refund my $305.00 admittedly! Being an X-Federal Inspector for construction I will take you to small clams court.

Will be contacting the Better Business Burial also. Will put America Home Shield on Yelp an all complaints dept on web. Being a disabled Vietnam Veteran will put it out there on TV news that no one should use your company. You need to fix the problem admittedly.

As your company knows your people will not fix the phone problem have not pride as an America. Having “American” in your business name is a JOKE.

I have nothing but time to let everyone in America that you company SUCKS. Everyone says your guys SUCK.

American Home Shield

My Microwave door falls apart every time I open it. So I called AHS to get it looked at. Did you know that the door falling apart is "Cosmetic" so it isn't covered under the warranty? Because I could (after each time it is opened)struggle but finally get the door to go back together and finally close - they consider it as "working" so it isn't covered under their contract. Don't send them your money, it is the first time I have called for a repair and that is the answer I get, I won't be renewing.

American Home shields Never Again!!!

3 weeks and still no ac. First company they sent informed the AC was in perfect working condition and my house was 85 degrees. Then they sent me a quote for a new AC (not sure why if mine was in perfect working condition according to their report) for $10,000 for an AC and Furnace. The same equipment can be acquired for 4k or less with any other local company or online. IT took me a day and a half and HOURS on hold to have them sending another company to check my AC. It was really hard for them to understand why I didn't want the same company. After new company goes to my house and detects the problems no one calls, we have to be calling and following up and pressuring for them to get things done. SUCKS!!! AMERICAN HOME SHIELDS NEVER AGAIN!!! If you want to get stressed and upset that's what you need. If you want a company that doesn't care for their customers, that's the one!!

Dishwasher Motor went out a month ago still waiting on American Home Shield to get a part

I have had a home warranty plan with American Home Shield for several years. Never used it. My diswasher motor went out a month ago. AHS will only let their appliance repair companies order parts from their (AHS) approved sites. I have been waiting on a dishwasher motor that is and has been on back order for a month next week. All they will tell me is I have to wait until the part can be obtained. Each week I am told for the third week in a row that it will be in next Tues. or Thursday. Got the same message this past Friday. One month after the service call was made.

Two weeks and no AC

American Home Shield is the worst company I have ever came into contact with in my life. It has been two weeks and still no working AC. It is > 95 degrees everyday. They basically take your money and then don't fix anything. I called two weeks ago because my AC isn't working. I called back three days later because I received no response. Two days after that, I had someone at my house. They told me they would need to get approval for the fix, but there would be 'uncovered' items. These uncovered items are how service professionals really make their money. It has been three days and AHS still hasn't approved the parts for fixing the unit. The AC contractor is telling me to expect another week. How is this acceptable? or proper business? I think AHS is nothing but a scam and stay far away.

We have been experiencing the same problem with them. We have not had a working A/C for 2 months and at this point we have submitted a complaint to BBB, contacted a lawyer, contacted Service Master and the CEO.

We will take them to court if we have to. They are refusing to replace items that are in fact covered in the warranty. I suggest others to be proactive and not take no for an answers.

I will post the outcome of my situation. I really want to discontinue my service with them but I'm curious to see how they will handle things when another appliciance fails.

Took my check and cashed it

I sent these people a check for a 4 yr contract and I had a contract already. I thought I was upgrading my contract. They cashed the check and deducted a regular payment from my charge card. I called and they said they were sending my check back to me tomorrow. I said why did it take you guys so long to decide (after I called) to send my check back? If I hadn't have called I probably would never have gotten my check back. I asked her if I needed a lawyer? She said do what you have to do.

5 days of 95 degree heat still no air

Friday afternoon we reported to American Home Shield that our air conditioner was out. This morning service guy comes out for 3 minutes to tell us it's broken,DUH. He tells us it could be up to 2 weeks before it is fixed. We live in Louisiana 95+ temperatures. We've had 1 pet die due to the heat and a 1 year old grandson living with us. This is ridiculous. Any other air conditioning company could have it repaired the same day. We had no idea we would have to wait this long for service. Bad choice on our part. It is the middle of June and in LA you cannot be without air conditioning. AHS is not a very reliable Co.

does any one know a good attorney to sue this company,i been out of air last 4 weeks, they keep sending bunch of idiots working on their side not to fix the problem, top of that they prolong any issues with 2 and 3 opinion, with different companys to *** you off,

#177527

Let me add to the AHS issue. I live in Louisiana which you know is extremely hot in the summer.

I contacted AHS and they have sent the same RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL company out twice. The first time I told them not to send the guy out again and the second time another technican came and we had verbal disagreement due to his rude behavior. I contacted AHS and they did NOTHING.

Allowed them to contact me and try to resolve issue but I specifically told them not to have company contact me again as well as the fact the issue which was my A/C never got repaired. I will be canceling my contract with them.

#166990

I have had AHS since I bought my house in 2004. Every year my AC goes out.

AHS replaced the air handler, and I paid out-of-pocket for a new outdoor unit just to make sure I was done with having my AC out-of-service every year in Jun. July. My outdoor unit wasn't even a year old and the compressor went bad, they changed it out and a week later it breaks again.

All I know is that they have AC in prison plus food and beds. I am the breaking point.

#163800

I PURCHASED A HOME WARRANTY FROM CAPITAL HOME SHIELD AND NEVER GOT MY WARRANTY PACKET IN THE MAIL.I DON'T EVEN KNOW MY POLICY NUMBER. ANYWAYS ,THEY TELL ME I HAVE TO WAIT 30 DAYS FOR THE WARRANTY TO BECOME ACTIVE WHICH WAS 7/2/2010.

SO NPOW, I'M TRYING TO CALL THE COMPANY CAUSE I GOT A BAD FEELING ABOUT THEM, AND TO MY SURPRISE THE PHONES HAVE BEEN DISCONNECTED. I HAVE SENT ABOUT 15 EMAILS AND NO RESPONSE.

PLEASE DON'T PURCHASE FROM CAPITAL HOME SHIELD EITHER. $799.00 OF MY MONEY WENT DOWN THE DRAIN AND I SHOULDA KNOW BETTER.I'M STRUGGLING SO MUCH RENTING AND PAYING MORTGAGE ,IT'S KILLING MY FAMILIES POCET AND FOR A SO-CALLED COMPANY TO DO THIS TO USE ,IT'S HORRIBLE !

#162689

Apparently this type problem is standard operating procedure for AHS. I live in Texas 100+ degrees in summer.

Last year my AC went out. Attic unit was replaced rather quickly but AC company broke condensation pipe which flooded in attic and cause ceiling to collapse. At time of repair I was told outside unit should also be replaced as it was old unit too (20+ years). AHS would not approve.

Low and behold this summer over 4th of July holiday that unit went out too. I have been 1 week waiting on parts from AHS. They came today and now low and behold outside unit is no longer compatable with inside unit because of R22 conversion to 410A. Now I am playing waiting game again for another unit for attic.

AHS knew this would be a problem as one of their reps told me order delay in outside unit was because of this compatability issue.

To add insult they offered me $125.00 for hotel stay. Where can you stay in hotel for 2 weeks for $125.00?

#155022

Same thing for me too! We have horrible summers down in the south.

AHS was informed last month of our a/c problems. Parts were not ordered when they said they would be. After waiting for about 2 weeks, the part gets here, and it is the wrong part. AHS has told us it would be 6 more business days.

This is the worst service I have ever had, dealing with any type of company before.

I will spread the word to everyone I know. Bad word gets around a lot faster than good.

#154315

Same thing for me...except its been 2 weeks and our temps are over 100 degrees. I detest AHS...for being a service company, they don't even know what the word means.

American Home Shield & American Residential Services of Florida are unreliable

This is the seventh time I have had a trouble call with my Air Conditioning unit since moving in in 2006. This time our AC went out on Sunday, 6 June and we called it into American Home Shield. They referred us to American Residential Serives of FLorida (Florida Home AC) and the soonest they could get out was Tuesday morning. The technician came out and said it was a blown capacitor (same story each time)and said the part was still under warranty. I still had to pay the $60 service fee and I told the guy it was not working properly. It didn't sound right even after he exchanged the part. We went out for the day and came back and the house was still extremely warm. I was assured through both that someone would be here Weds morning and of course no one came. The company blamed the warranty and the warranty company said they are at the mercy of the repair company. All excuses, no answers, rude customer service, beware - you wll be dissapointed if you use either.

They will not pay for a covered item

We have had American Home Shield for 14 yrs paying a lot of money for a yearly coverage. When we have called for simple items to be repaired they send a company of their choice and we pay the $60.00 for them to come out, then they do a simple thing that would NOT be expensive and that is the end of it. Now we have a large item that is covered in our policy and they want us to pay basically for the whole thing. I have come to the conclusion that as long as you don't really want anything that is expensive then you will get it but if you need something expensive, that is supposed to be covered, well just get out your check book because they find a way to make you pay for the repair. I don't know if this is the policy of all home warranties or this is just a *** ONE. I do know that I would NEVER recommend this COMPANY!!

Absolutely!! We have had the exact same experience with them.

First calll, they sent the most idiotic person imaginable. Recommended we remove te drop ceiling tiles and let the ductwork drip dry onto the carpet. No repair. No work.

Nothing. Took our $60 and left. ***! Now themotor for the septic system stopped working.

Contractor was actually very helpful and knowledgable. AHS on te other hand is not. Now that something is going to cost them some money to repair/replace, they claim it's not covered. I talked to THREE different customer service reps when placing the service request.

I specifically explained to them what the problem was. Not one time did anyone say it wasn't covered. The contractor calls them to get approval and magically it's not covered?! I called a supervisor with the "authorization center" and she tells me, "We can't cover anything that's not covered due to a misunderstanding." So to be clear, AHS refuses to cover something even though THEY TOLD ME it was covered and went ahead and sent out a contractor.

Uhh....that's not my problem. I told hem I woul be more than happy to add to the 3,200+ complaints that have already been logged with the BBB and tell every realtor in my area to stop doing business with them.

It's a small town and I know a lot of realtors and others personally. Idiots!

American Home Shield And Building codes

AC Issue Placed a call on Thursday, indicating it was life threatening since it was a disable person in a wheelchair who could have a seizure if the temperature went too high in the house. They came and indicated it was a maintenance issue since the coils were dirty which force the outside compressor to overwork. Their tech also indicated that when the compressor was changed 3 years ago AHS chose a cheat unit that was not compatible with the indoor unit and was against NC Building codes. Thus not only is AHS refusing to change the unit but when they did put a cheap unit in against my state's building codes and indicate that they do not ahead to the individual building codes but that it was in the contract. If they advertise QUALIFIED techs and they do something against the state building codes how can the state Attorney General allow them to operate? They should have had their original tech indicate that they could not change the original compressor unless I paid for the compatible coil myself before doing something against the building code.

What is Comparable?

Over the years we have used AHS several times. In the past few years we noticed a move forward low balling the customer with interior replacement products or looking for ways not to replace defective products (installed by their service providers). Replacing a $220 thermostat with a $19.00 thermostate is not comparable. Replacing a $1300 dishwasher with a $450 dishwasher is not comparable. Has anyone done any research on who the ownership investors are? Anyone willing to combine resources and take out a wall street journal newspaper ad? Lousy customer service and misrepresentation of contract fulfillment are unacceptable and must be stopped!

Bordered on hypothermia and heat stroke due to their CARELESSNESS

We have spent hundreds of dollars in electricity bills due to the fact that in 6 months they STILL have not resolved our heating and air problems. I am currently sitting in 80 degree home with my dogs waiting for four days to get their "24 hour service!" I hate this company and cant wait to choose a new one in a few months!!!!!!!!!! Even the companies they hire are shameless. Please for the love of God do not get a contract with this company. Our first service request for our heating going out this winter took 4 weeks to resolve and cost us about 600 dollars in electic bills. Now its been 6 months with a/c problems too!
