MILITARY VETERAN VERY DISSATISFIED WITH TREATMENT FROM AHS
On Sat. 16th,at approximately 08 am I called AMHS about my toilet leaking and needed someone to come ASAP. AMHS informed me they would not be able to service me until Tues. After days of emptying buckets and unable to sleep.
One provider, who schedule to come at 9 am showed up at 11 am. He came
in with few words, no greeting, looked at the toilet and said I don't know if the company will cover this. He prepared to leave and said that will be $75,
I said no, you didn't do anything. He left and returned in 10 min. said he
would put a shut off valve, but would do nothing more than that. I said that's
not sufficient. Like many others, I had to call a competent plumber on my
own and had to pay $750. They did a great job, knew how to communicate with the customer and I was very satisfied. Conclusion, AMH wants to take
your money every month and give you nothing in return. Not even a decent
discussion about the problem. Supervisors were not available for complaint
or to facilitate anything.
- Deny coverage
- No real commitment to customer

American Home Shield - Ahs Air Conditioning Repair Review from Atlanta, Georgia
On August 12, 2015, I called American Home Shield concerning an air condition issue. I had just come home from a surgical procedure and requested an upgrade due to my medical condition.
For the third time this summer the air conditioner was not working. On August 13 2015, a company called Bishop Engineering arrived at my home at 6:30 p.m., they diagnose the air conditioner problem as a bad compressor. On Friday August 14, I called both this Bishop Engineering and American Home Shield about whether the part had been ordered and when will they be coming out to install the compressor. The compressor was not ordered until Monday, August 17, 2015.
On August 17, 2015 at 3:10 p.m., I called American Home Shield and learned that the compressor had been ordered and was ready for pickup. The representative told me that Bishop Engineering has been sent an email confirming that the part was ready for pick up. Later that evening, I called the Bishop and requested to be placed on the schedule for the following day. The dispatcher, Carolyn, said she would not be able to put me on a schedule until the technician physically pick up the compressor from the warehouse.
I asked when might this be done?. The company did not pick up the compressor from the warehouse until Tuesday evening. They called and said that they would be able to come out and install the compressor on Wednesday, August 19 at 8 a.m., I requested that the technician bring a digital scale in order to determine how much freon was being put into my AC system. I assured by both Bishop Engineering and American Home Shield that the technician would comply.
At 8:30 a.m. August 19, 2015, 7 days from the date of the diagnosis Bishop Engineering still had not arrived at my home. I called the company and the technician on his cell phone number to get an update on what time they would be at my home. No one answered on neither telephone numbers.
At 9:10 a.m., a technician arrived and stated that he was there to install the compressor and that he had been asked to collect the money upfront for the freon and stated that 9lbs. would be used in the system. He requested $450 dollars which was the portion for which I was responsible. It was $60 a lb but American Home Shield would pay $10 per pound.
I stated to the technician that I have never been asked to pay up front before a job had been started. The technician stated if he was not paid up front that he was going to have to leave, so he left. The owner was called, and he stated that he would send the technician back to my home but that he requested that noone stands over him and watch him work. He returned and I asked the technician if he had a digital scale with him?
He said "no". I asked him how will I know if 9lbs was added?. He said becsuse he was honest. I told him I reqested that he bring one.
Due to it already being 7 days without air, I allowed him to do the install and paid them $450. This company did not prove to me as a customer that they utilize 9lbs of freon in my air conditioner yet I had to pay them for 9 lbs... $450 dollars in cash as they requested. I called and spoke with American Home Shield about this situation because I did not feel that it was fair for them to charge me for 9lbs and not have to prove it.
I thought this was dishonest and very unfair and I bought this to American Home Shield attention. American Home Shield allowed me to be treated this way by one of their contractors. They never intervened and did not require them to bring a scale.
This is how they treated a 9 year customer who had recently come out of the hospital from a surgical procedure. #wowgreedyworld #horriblecustomerservice
Ahs Dishwasher Repair Review
BUYER BEWARE!!!
What a HUGE WASTE OF MONEY! I've had this warranty company from 2005 to 2015 & all is good until you need to make a claim. Called them for a hot water tank leak in 2012 & was sent a plumber that tried to gauge me for an additional $380 onto of the $75 copay. They wanted to charge me $158 for a PERMIT which I verified with the city & was advised the permit was only $40. I asked the plumbing company why they were charging so much they said "Because we can!" Needless to say I did not use them for my repair & had to hire my own plumber. AHS could not provide a different plumber & supported the company they provided by stating that the permit & additional fees were not part of the coverage policy. I had to go round & round with American Home Shield to get reimbursed. Only after calling to cancel the account did I get assistance & was stupidly agreed to not cancel the policy. They ultimately paid me $240 which is what they said the job was worth... No wonder their plumber tried to gouge me for an additional $380!
A year later I again contacted them for a drain stoppage. They send out a different plumber who takes my $75 copay but then states they can't clear the stopped drain via the American Home Shield policy because AHS does not allow them to provide work that requires roof top access. They did clear the drain via roof top access at my own out of pocket expense - another $200 out of my pocket to a plumber & no reimbursement from American Home Shield.
Lastly in 2015, I get a leak in my kitchen. They send a plumber AND a leak detection specialist. The plumber states he won't do the repair unless I independently have someone rip out my built in kitchen cabinets. The cabinets can't be removed without breaking them apart and the leak detection specialist is unable to exactly pinpoint the leak because he said "American Home Shield" would not allow him to open the wall where the leak was believed to be. Interestingly enough, he could open the call by cutting hole in the back of the cabinet without "ripping out" the cabinet. So there I sat without hot water for several days waiting for resolution from AHS. Finally I contact them after 3 days & I'm advised that the claim is closed due to "customer unwilling to remove cabinet"! No second opinion, no response from the plumber, no hot water & NO REPAIR!
I had to find my own plumber who was able to repair the leak which turned out to be under slab beneath the cabinet floor. He made the repair without having to destroy my kitchen cabinets & counter top. It took him & his 2 helpers 4.5 hours to complete the repair & the repair cost exceeded the limits of the AHS policy. Now AHS continues to refuse to reimburse me for the policy limits of my out of pocket loss . So basically they take your money for years & years but when things break down & you need to make a claim they provide *** contractors & don't make good on coverage, plus you are out your co-pays. I've learned my lesson & have cancelled this account after paying them over $6000 over a 10 year period for NOTHING!
