American Home Shield in Shelby County, Tennessee - Furnace isn't working

My furnace isn't working and I called AHS to have a repairman come out. There have been 3 out here so far. The first two were from the same company. I was told they wouldn't come back to fix the problem but not told why. The company said I had to contact AHS; AHS said I had to contact the company. AHS finally sent someone else. That person said they needed to order a part and would contact me about installation when it arrived. Then I get a voicemail message from AHS that that company won't come back either because I have dog *** on the floor and the carpet needs to be removed. I DO NOT have *** on the floor and I have no intention of removing the carpet. It does need to be replaced, but I don't have the money for that right now. I was also told the furnace would not be covered until I removed the carpet. I tried to call them back about this and can't get through. I then sent an email, to which I got no response. They advertise repair/replacement and then when you need something fixed/replaced, they won't do it. All I can say is I'm glad I live in Memphis and not Buffalo, NY. I'd be freezing to death.

Did you know that AHS headquarters in located in Memphis? I figured this out after I had my problems with them.

I live right across the bridge in Marion.

I actually threatened to drive over there and handle my problem face to face with them. I got a check for $1000 in the mail a few days later.

American Home Shield in Indio, California - Wish I had read these reviews prior to joining

Do not expect to have your claim approved. Do not expect to have quality vendors/repairman. Do not expect to be successful resolving issues. Do not expect to be treated with respect. Do not expect phone calls to be returned. Already a member? Document all calls, record them if you have the capability. If I had kept notes they would be vastly different than theirs. I currently have a claim with the Insurance Commission and the BBB. it is so obvious that the agents are reading scripted responses. If you ask a question that is not the norm, notice the pause as they scroll through their script, searching for the answer. When you stump them, they will put you on hold as they seek help. WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH.

I specifically recorded the phone call when ordering this service. I also was told my sump pump would be covered as week add many other things. They told me what i wanted to hear, but when it came time to actually get coverage they dropped the ball and didn't cover anything! Not only did they not cover anything they even charged me For a service That never took place. I'm so angry. I fought for this country and the people in it, makes me sick to know I fight for even these corrupt people. Nobody even called me to discuss it or even make an effort. Today we will be canceling our services and as soon as i get back to base in gonna have all my marine buddies cancel theirs to. Hope it was worth it ahs.

American Home Shield in Wilson, North Carolina - Very very very poor communication and lousy service with subcontractors.

I submitted a service request. Sears service people showed up. They said I needed a control panel for my GE range. Could not locate part because it was no longer available from the manufacturer. AHS said the Jennaire would be a replacement. I spent an additional 92.30 for the stainless steel version. The trucking company could not deliver the day after Thanksgiving so December 5, on a Friday would be the next available time. I was ok with that. J.B. Hunt wanted to know about installation. I told them AHS had contracted All Brand Appliances from Smithfield NC. I called them before Thanksgiving and they called me on Dec 1, 2014 and said they could not install. They said there was a communication issue and were concerned about compensation. I call AHS. I have paid almost 3 years and have never made a service request. If I had call Sears, Lowes, Home Depot, they WANT your business, then, it would be in the house and I would be satisfied. I will blast this review because in America SERVICE is everything. I will cancel as soon as possible. Do not use this company. Over 500 complaints. Just Google AHS complaints. You'll see.

After I posted this review, an extremely helpful and friendly lady from AHS called to discuss things with me. She offered to send me a check for $1000, which I accepted.

I used that money to buy and install all new plumbing for the entire house. I did all of the work...

Oh my goodness, sounds almost like ours, we 3rd day without heat. we finally had to purchase heaters, we were smelling a gas smell for about a week, we were off work so we called American Home Shield, the first constractor we paid 125.oo to, was 20 and inexperienced.

He said the smell was a nest, so we requested another and had to wait another day, paid another 125.00 they found out the smell was carbon dioxide poisoning .. and the unit was bad, hours after, they call us baCK AND TOLD US IT WAS DENIED..

because we did not have a filter in the hall way.... sounds like their job has turned into how NOT to approve a claim.

I body shower head water only get warm not hot. A.h.s. sent k.&s plumbing out to fix it .the set screw was missing and the guy said this is why it don't work so they refuse to fix it. I went an purchase the set screw and it still dont get hot. I feel like this has nothing to do with the hot water.

American Home Shield - Don't waist money !!!

Don't waist money , its horrible service and they not covering anything , just sounds good in the beginning …i have a problem with a furnace and guess what ? I call at service , explain all situation , they send a guy twice to the my house , after this i was waiting a few days call them back to see what they gonna tell me about my broken furnace . Finally they call and told me they can't to cover my furnace and before i fax all papers what they ask me. i both a furnace on my expense ! So disappoint !!!
