Noticed water coming out of our heating unit Saturday morning in single digit cold weather. On hold for over 20 minutes waiting for customer service. Rep was useless and unhelpful. He assigned a contractor to come out. Only gave us name and phone no, of contractor,...

Terrible service from American Home Shield

As I write this, I have been waiting on the phone for an hour to get an update on my service request. My water heater went kaput two days ago, and the AHS contractor serving our area could not be scheduled to be here for two days (the only contractor they have is not even located in our county). When he finally arrived and determined that the water heater needed to be replaced, we were told that he had to contact AHS for the replacement, and that we would then have to wait for them to ship it to the contractor (up to a week, they tell me). So we may be without hot water for about 10 days. This ripoff firm gladly accepts my monthly premiums, but when I need service, I become invisible. Last summer, they refused to cover an outdoor freeze proof valve that had ruptured, claiming that it had frozen (really, a freeze proof valve?). Run, don't walk away, from this unscrupulous outfit.

I have been an AHS customer for over two years. Back in 2012-2013 my husband and I purchased a policy from AHS, shortly after our ceiling fan broke, we called AHS and were told that the ceiling fan was not covered so we bought a new ceiling fan. Then I found out that...

American Home Shield - Dryer Repair Review from Cincinnati, Ohio

Well two weeks later still without a dryer. Said they were waiting on pricing from the service guy. I called The service guy he told Me he sent pricing the first day dryer couldn't be fixed because part wasn't available. Service man told me that AHS put It into a parts research and assured me that pricing was called in. Get a call Friday morning after several calls to AHS saying they would be sending me a replacement email that morning. I received the email Monday morning wanting to know information about the dryer. Keep in mind they have the brand model number and serial number they will then take another 3-4 days to check all this out and get back to me. I called them And said I am at work I can't take pictures and don't have that information. I was told it Would take me a whole 3 minutes to get that information to them. Well I work ten hours won't be home so it will be 10 Hours and 3 minutes!! This is absolutely crazy!!! I bought this policy because I am a single mom who can't afford to replace big items. AHS has taken a lot of time out Of my day waiting on hold to speak to a rep and having to go the the laundry mat taking even more time away from day!!!

American Home Shield in Corvallis, Oregon - Second Opinon to get out of Coverage

I switched to AHS from First American, after 2 years, because I was told that they had better service and coverage. Several sales reps guaranteed that I would not be required to use Sears, even though that is who they contract with instead I could use one of the local business approved by their company. My first service call involved the technician making a recommendation to replace my stove top but because my policy was only a couple months old AHS said that they would require Sears to give a second opinion. I believe this is their way of getting out of upholding they're contractual obligation. This was my first experience with AHS service call and now I regret switching. I guess if you purchase a policy don't call anything in for at least 6 months so they don't treat you like a liar.

American Home Shield - Water Heater Review from Wichita Falls, Texas

1.0
Details
This winter, my water heater started leaking and I called AHS as it was covered. The 1st plumber turned up after a week, checked the water heater and said it couldn't be repaired. So he turned it off and told me he would inform AHS and once they sanction the new heater, it would be replaced. After a week for no ascertainable reason, a 2nd plumber from AHS shows up, looks at the water heater and starts a story that the water heater model has been recalled by the manufacturer. I called the manufacturer and verified the information, which turned out to be a blatant lie. When I confronted AHS with the manufacturer's email specifically saying that the water heater had not been recalled, AHS still stubbornly refused to accept it. Till to date I have spent the entire winter without water heater in my house and all due to AHS unprofessional practices. I would strongly recommend everybody to beware of AHS.

It is not that hard to install a water heater. They do not cost that much.Go to the store and buy one then install it.I am a girl and I did it.There is not a reason to go without hot water all winter.Go on you tube to see how easy it really is.I can not believe how lazy some people are.I can not feel sorry for you when this is such an easy fix.I know you want the service you paid for but why put yourself thru all that..I would not go all winter without hot water.

Stay away from them. I have has no hot water for 2 months now.

They send contractors to inspect my water heater and then change them when they say that it needs replacement.

2 months in the middle of the winter! Never again!

I called on 1-9-15, my furnace went out. I explained that I had a combo furnace with heat n air. A couple of days later the company called to come out. I explained what kind of furnace I had they said they don't work on them. I had to call homeshield back to make another app. The gentleman from all weathers came out and stated that I need a new furnace . He wrote all information down and called it in. I called homeshield to see what was taking so long, they ordered the wrong furnace now it has been two weeks and every representative that I talk to is telling me that their are a lot of notes but they don't see that the new one has been ordered. I ask all representative that I talked to to have a supervisor to call me but haven't heard from one. Today is 1-22-15.

AMERICAN HOME SHIELD wants to charge me $500plus to install a water heater.

1.0
Details
My water heater is not putting out enough hot water, so I called AHS because I knew it was covered. After having a guy here for THREE HOURS attempting to fix it, it still didn't work. So the next day they sent someone else out and said it needed to be replaced and they would get back to me. Then AHS called and said yes indeed they would replace my water heater but it would be an additional $500 in parts and labor. What? A new water heater only cost $250!! Are they kidding me? They were NOT even here long enough on the second visit to know what parts they would need. They used to be good, but I am cancelling my contract with them ASAP. Do not use them!!!
