They will not pay for a covered item

We have had American Home Shield for 14 yrs paying a lot of money for a yearly coverage. When we have called for simple items to be repaired they send a company of their choice and we pay the $60.00 for them to come out, then they do a simple thing that would NOT be expensive and that is the end of it. Now we have a large item that is covered in our policy and they want us to pay basically for the whole thing. I have come to the conclusion that as long as you don't really want anything that is expensive then you will get it but if you need something expensive, that is supposed to be covered, well just get out your check book because they find a way to make you pay for the repair. I don't know if this is the policy of all home warranties or this is just a *** ONE. I do know that I would NEVER recommend this COMPANY!!

Absolutely!! We have had the exact same experience with them.

First calll, they sent the most idiotic person imaginable. Recommended we remove te drop ceiling tiles and let the ductwork drip dry onto the carpet. No repair. No work.

Nothing. Took our $60 and left. ***! Now themotor for the septic system stopped working.

Contractor was actually very helpful and knowledgable. AHS on te other hand is not. Now that something is going to cost them some money to repair/replace, they claim it's not covered. I talked to THREE different customer service reps when placing the service request.

I specifically explained to them what the problem was. Not one time did anyone say it wasn't covered. The contractor calls them to get approval and magically it's not covered?! I called a supervisor with the "authorization center" and she tells me, "We can't cover anything that's not covered due to a misunderstanding." So to be clear, AHS refuses to cover something even though THEY TOLD ME it was covered and went ahead and sent out a contractor.

Uhh....that's not my problem. I told hem I woul be more than happy to add to the 3,200+ complaints that have already been logged with the BBB and tell every realtor in my area to stop doing business with them.

It's a small town and I know a lot of realtors and others personally. Idiots!

American Home Shield And Building codes

AC Issue Placed a call on Thursday, indicating it was life threatening since it was a disable person in a wheelchair who could have a seizure if the temperature went too high in the house. They came and indicated it was a maintenance issue since the coils were dirty which force the outside compressor to overwork. Their tech also indicated that when the compressor was changed 3 years ago AHS chose a cheat unit that was not compatible with the indoor unit and was against NC Building codes. Thus not only is AHS refusing to change the unit but when they did put a cheap unit in against my state's building codes and indicate that they do not ahead to the individual building codes but that it was in the contract. If they advertise QUALIFIED techs and they do something against the state building codes how can the state Attorney General allow them to operate? They should have had their original tech indicate that they could not change the original compressor unless I paid for the compatible coil myself before doing something against the building code.

What is Comparable?

Over the years we have used AHS several times. In the past few years we noticed a move forward low balling the customer with interior replacement products or looking for ways not to replace defective products (installed by their service providers). Replacing a $220 thermostat with a $19.00 thermostate is not comparable. Replacing a $1300 dishwasher with a $450 dishwasher is not comparable. Has anyone done any research on who the ownership investors are? Anyone willing to combine resources and take out a wall street journal newspaper ad? Lousy customer service and misrepresentation of contract fulfillment are unacceptable and must be stopped!

Look up AHS and class action law suit. They've been sued before and I won't be surprised if it happens again.

Bordered on hypothermia and heat stroke due to their CARELESSNESS

We have spent hundreds of dollars in electricity bills due to the fact that in 6 months they STILL have not resolved our heating and air problems. I am currently sitting in 80 degree home with my dogs waiting for four days to get their "24 hour service!" I hate this company and cant wait to choose a new one in a few months!!!!!!!!!! Even the companies they hire are shameless. Please for the love of God do not get a contract with this company. Our first service request for our heating going out this winter took 4 weeks to resolve and cost us about 600 dollars in electic bills. Now its been 6 months with a/c problems too!

SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM

I do not own a home, yet for some reason, I get an email from AHS every so often. Normally, I just ignore these along with the viagra, rolex, and genvalia coffee. But today, one of these spams wound up getting through the weak spam filters that hotmail uses, so I took a closer look at this particular spam. Of course, the spam was sent from a third party 'marketing firm'. Spam-a-lot is more like it. Anyway, I know if I complain to american_home_shield_ukhdj@***.com, they will just sell my address to all of the other Spam-a-lots as an active address. And if I complain directly to AHS, they will remove my name from their marketing list, and nothing else, while their third party spam-a-lots keep on spaming me. My solution? post a complaint here among you idiots that actually clicked on the link and lived to regret it. My hope is that the next time you get a 'respectable' looking piece of spam, you won't click on it, and that will drive down the cost/effectiveness ratio, which will in turn make someone decide not to do another email campaign, and I will have one less piece of spam in my inbox.

Do a google search with quotation marks with your email address and be surprised where you email address is. "johnny@***.com" (not my real email)Mine is on a server that is open for anyone to get my address to spam.

#431043

You all have to go to the source of the problem when dealing with American Home Shield/AHS. Their Parent Company is Service Master.

It is best to go to www.servicemaster.com/ and complain to them. All of the companys within their so-called "Quality Service Network" use this type of heavy-handed "SPAM" marketing.

#297701

I don't understand why Hotmail doesn't block these emails! Third party?

I don't care. They still know who these people are. We need a NO SPAM list, just like our NO CALL list !!!!!! I have unsubscribed a zillion times - yes, I know that just proves to them that it's a valid email address - and have emailed the company, etc., etc.

Nothing else I can do.

I am going to find out if my Gmail, Yahoo, and other friends have to put up with the same thing. I've had a Hotmail account FOREVER and don't want to change, but I will if this doesn't stop.

35 bloody seperate spam mails from American Home Shield......and I don't even live in America. I have e-mailed AHS and complained weeks ago but am still getting their spam.

It's a wonder AHS gets any business when they *** people off like this. It's probably a good job I don't live anywhere near them otherwise they'd be getting a personal visit!

American Home Shield doesn't provide service promised

American Home Shield says they will repair covered items. My airconditioner is a covered item. I called them this am at 10:50 and was told someone would come out between 3 and 7 this afternoon. At 6 i recieved a call from the repair service that AHS would not authorize the repair. I have paid them faithfully for 7 years and now i can not have my a/c repaired until june 1st which is 10 days from the time they orig said someone would come out, unless i agree that it will be an emergency call. They stipulate that if the technician finds it to not be an emergency then I will be responsible for all costs of all repairs. Since this is the 2nd time in 20 days the a/c unit has broken I am sure they are trying to get out of paying a costly repair. Note that the orig repair was 20 days ago and they warrenty that service for 30 days.

American Home Shield Customer Service Sucks

We have been loyal customers since 1999 and continue to get extremely poor customer service. Our AC unit has broken down numerous times. Each time they send someone to attempt to repair it, it takes at least 1-2 weeks to "put a bandaid" on the problem. The unit is from 1972 and almost every part has been replaced at one time or another in the last 3 years. We are - Again - without air conditioning with 90+ degree temperatures in our home. We work from the home and have pets...and we are suffering. This is inexcusable and the HVAC system needs to be replaced. Instead, they want to give it another shot on repairing it; which we've been informed will take another week to get a part machined to fit. Yes - they don't make parts for it anymore. American Home Shield Sucks!

I have been a customer with AHS since around 2007 as well. We have had problems with our AC Unit on many occasions and AHS has put bandages on the unit.

The unit is not old and was in place since the home was built in 2003. We are now in 90 degree heat since Memorial weekend and today is 3 June 2011 awaiting parts. My family and pet are suffering along with myself trying to stay cool at night because the days are unbearable. They collect the $60 dollars fast and quick, stay for 5 minutes and say that they will return.

They tell you exactly what you already know and that is your system is broke, I have another call and I will get back to you. This is a shame and disgrace to all customers and Americans. It makes me sad to know that I returned home after serving in Afghanistan and Iraq to see what these people have been doing to my family.

Shame on the President of the company and the Managers! May you rest in ***!

You're story is mine. Last August 1 week without A/C.

December 2 weeks without heat. As of today one week without A/C. We have had 8 service calls in 10 months. Today I was told it was because I didn't change the air filter.

I have changed them on the first of every month since 1998.

They are complete ***-artists and each sub contractor is as well.

How does your story end?

#209300

I say the squeaky wheel gets the oil. Keep complaining and demanding to get your new pump. You'll probably have the new service charge, but make sure they don't ignore you.

#209245

I have been an AHS customer since 2007. We keep experiencing poor quality of product for replacement and shoddy service men. The person who they had replace the cleaner pump on our pool did a bad job and it is out again in less than 6 months.

American Home Shield - THIEVES!!

Great at billing. But go ahead...make a claim. I hope your phone works cuz you're gonna be on it all day. Run arounds, arguments, excuses, fine print...oh yeah, don't forget the fine print, and phone techs hanging up on you. Yeah, FACT!! Just ask for Crystal. They found problems with our contract YEARS after paying premiums. Isn't that cool? We make a claim for a dead AC unit and now we have issues. Anything to prevent payment. Bottom line: You're a fool if you sign up with these thieves. Don't say you weren't told!!

I have been with AHS for ten years and used to have faith in the company. Over the past five years, down the drain they go.

The toddlers who claim to be CS, are no help at all and still require help with the alphabet. I had three a/c go out this year with in weeks of one another. Same problems, different out of pocket fine print. As I told the wonderful CS, I would like the name of your attorney so he/she can write up my contracts.

I have just begun another year prior to all this happening, but I REFUSE to sit on hold all day while being transfered to other dept's that are not appropriate. I refuse to pay the last out of pocket. I am looking into cxl the contract and moving on to another company or just putting that money in a coffee can and use that when soemthing fails. Thieves indeed.

I hear a class action suit is brewing......and then we will get our check for 18.36.....so who wins with all the yelling, frustration....the thieves win. Seems to be a trend in this country.

American Home Shield Claim

Failure to deliver as promised!

AHS only contracts with unknowns in our area. The nearest plumber was 50 miles from my home and I live in a town of almost 80000. The first issue was parts not being available according to the repairman. The second was when I had a pipe break under the sink. They expected that I should wait until a plumber was called which was almost 50 miles. I called my local plumber, had it fixed and they refused to pay. When I cancelled my policy they offered to pay my bill. Now it's been two months and they still haven't cancelled my policy. They are a rip-off. I have had more NO COVER than COVER. They always have a loop hole!

Biggest RIP-OFF in the History

This company is a BIG SCAM. American Home Shield, will never respond for any repair on time. They will never replace any coverage equipment under any circumstances. So I urge you not to waste your valuable time and money on this company. You are better of calling a service company, and most likely they will be there next day. Please, please, dont deal with this company. I am calling them in the morning to cancel it and get my money back for covered period. Sp what ever you do never take this warranty. I am dumping the company tomorrow morning.

American Home Shield is difficult to deal with!

I have an America Home Shield home warranty and have had good and bad experiences with them. The bad experiences concerned getting my HVAC Heat Pump repaired. The repair company kept coming to my home changing stuff until they finally replaced the compressor. The cost to me was $55 each trip the service people made and although I don't remember how many times they came (yep it was so many that I could not keep up with the times)... unbelievable! The good experiences were that when I called they sent a service representative. It took two years for them to repair my HVAC!!! The bad experience has to do with their accounting department. I was having the bill drafted out of my banking account each month by bank card. I wasn't aware my bank card expired. And two months later I was sent a past due notice... I immediately contacted AHS and that is when the *** HIT THE FAN. The phone representative was very rude and when I gave her the new bank card information I thought they would continue drafting my account. Apparently, not so... and I can't get them to call me so that I can talk to some one who understands accounting! Yes.... I'm pissed

If you are disgusted with AHS's business tactics, customer relations AND DENIAL OF TRUE, VALID CLAIMS (ie: Breach of Contract)....

Here's some info:

If you're seeking CEO David Crawford's voicemail - here's how.

Dial 1-86*-***-****. When the phone system says "Thank you for calling American Home Shield.... please enter your Representative's Extension" -

DO THE FOLLOWING:

Enter Ext. # 1000

The Greeting will then say: "Welcome to Avia Messaging, please enter the mailbox # of the person you are calling.... IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE MAILBOX NUMBER, PRESS STAR (*) TO SPELL THE NAME"....

After that sentence, IMMEDIATELY PRESS STAR (*) - then spell David Crawford's LAST NAME:

just input, "CRAW".... you will then be taken to: DAVE CRAWFORD'S VOICEMAIL....

Kindly leave your message.

If you want to call bluff - redial the 1-866 number above, go to Ext. 1000 and then input Judy's Extension "2100" (Judy Peedic - The Executive Assistant to David Crawford) - it will take you to her voicemail (or she will pick up) - so the Avia Messaging System is that of AHS...

Also, another Executive Assistant to David Crawford is a person by the name of "Matthew Boyd" his extension is 2103 at the same 1-866 number listed above (again, his extension also works in the Avia Messaging System @ AHS).

I hope American Home Shield makes right on alot of the breach of contract issues... :)

PASS THE INFO ON TO ANY SITE YOU SEE THAT CONTAINS AHS COMPLAINTS!!!

The contact information above is no longer valid because David Crawford quit AHS in 2012. Your best route is to check out AHS parent company at www.servicemaster.com

American Home Shield ineffective warranty do not buy

It seems the American Home Shield warranty program's purpose is to sell a service that just keeps old broken down appliances and such barely working. They replace every broken part one at a time in a appliance that is clearly at the end of it's life. This year they did replace almost every part of my dishwasher but it still didn't clean the dishes which is really the only purpose to own a dishwasher. So this dishwasher with all its new parts is now in a landfill because I had to buy a new one after all of their efforts and my valuable time spent arranging appointments and service times with them. This all for naught. This also applies to my pool equipment that they tried to fix. They don't reaaly want to fix the problem they just want to sort of make the things they service appear like they are working. Honestly it is much wiser to just put the money toward a replacement than spend it on an AHS home warranty. They were all nice and pleasant but it is still quite a bit of a scam.

I agree with you. I have had AHS contract for 20 years, paid them about $ 8,000 over that time.

My water has broken and the plumber AHS sent says it can not be fixed. I have been waiting for two weeks without a water heater trying to get AHS to replace it.

My contract with AHS was just a waste of money.

AHMSI mortgage unauthorized ACH withdrawal

AHMSI recently took over my loan from bankrupt taylor bean and whittaker. Because the transaction was less than smooth in order to best cover my *** I made payments over the phone with a live associate. All the calls were recorded and the associates repeated themselves multiple times to ensure accuracy. Well last week I called to make one payment. Everything seemed fine until I checked my bank records a couple days later and see they took out 2 seperate payments via ACH. I only authorized one. So I called the next business day, they admitted the error and asked that I fax a current bank statement showing the transactions and that within 2 business days my account would be debited. Today was the second day and the phone call didn't go well. I've now been told that it may take another week to research it and I may or may not recieve my funds back. Obviously I am not very pleased. Caution to all:: be careful of who you authorize to take payments out of your account. I will be sending checks via certified mail from now on so I can have record of them recieving my payment. Has anyone else had a similar problem with this company and how was it resolved?

They had my first and second. They were supposed to pay my taxes on my first and NEVER DID!!

My advise, don't even send it through the mail. I have heard stories that even though you get the payment there on time,(even certified) they hold the check and charge you a late fee. They are a bunch of numbnuts. I settled this dispute through the Attorney General in Texas.

I sent so much documentation they finally sent my check from my taxes Federal Express.

If you have problems with the idiots, keep telling them you wants to speak to an AMERICAN!!!! Keep on the daily and document who you talk to.

AHS send 4 technicians during last 6 month to fix problem to my wall Owen, The first three come there and said they cannot repair and it must be replaced. Then AHS send the 4th one today who came there and do some cleaning and gone. the wall Owen still not working properly and alarms occasionally. The customer service people rude and the supervisors don't want to hear the problems. It is a headache to deal with these people. I am not going to renew with them anymore.
