American Home Shield in Santa Fe, New Mexico - Sent a plumber who robbed us.

He looked at the problem dishwasher and said he would order the parts. We wrote him the required $75 dollar check and never heard from him again. I was balancing my checkbook a week or two later and noticed a $7,500 debit. He had deviously changed the figures on the check and his bank cashed it .this is months ago, and American Shield has not addressed the problem. I submitted another claim and have not heard from them and have not been able to reach anyone who will deal with this problem. I have been very patient up till now.The plumber has a bad reputation and I have not heard from the police about this matter. Very upsetting

Take it up with your bank. Not his employer.

Make sure that you obtain the police case number and call the police dept to speak with a supervisor. They have limited resources so demand that the case be assigned to an investigator and not just suspended.

You have a suspect. Remember what he looks like, etc. Find out which bank it was cashed on what date he cashed it. Go to the bank and speak with a VP.

Find out which "bank Teller" he presented it to, and get her name. If it happened recently or if he is a regular then she might remember him. The police can do a "photo spread" and use the Teller to Identify the man who presented the check if he went inside the bank. If he changed your written check and is that bold then this guy may not even work for that plumbing company now or AHS may have fired the company.

Good Luck!. In my humble opinion that is a lot of money, and you probably will have to use an attorney to get all of your money back. Im sure AHS will blame the contractor and refuse to acknowledged any wrong doing.

Additionally, contact your state licensing and see if the Plumbing Company/Master Plumber is even properly licensed or are they using a third person's license number.... Good LUCK

American Home Shield in Los Angeles, California - Unscrupulous contractor

Details
AHS sent Bordt Plumbing of Ft Myers Fl, to repair leaking hot water tank, claimed AHS would not let them condemn unit, came back 3 months later when it leaked again. It was an 80 gal unit. Bordt said he would only put in a 55 gal tank. I told him it's an 80 gal & it has to be replaced by the same type according to contract. He said, "NO" and wanted $500 additional, $250 for a "modification" and $250 for a expansion tank. The replacement expansion tank for my unit costs $40 at Home Depot, when I asked why the overcharge, he responded with, "because I'm a licensed plumber". That's 6 times the retail price and you purchase it wholesale. You're a licensed crook.

Harry B Bordt Llc

Harry came out to fix a water heater leak and was having a bad day, he decided to overcharge the AHS customer. He walked away leaving the customer with no running water.

American Home Shield should cancel any contract with this guy. He can be unreliable and bad news, why take the chance? He has a policy of charging extra for Home Warranty customers.

See the other reviews on other sites. He wanted $470 extra for two 10' pvc pipes that had to be replaced in addition to the water heater.

American Home Shield in Reisterstown, Maryland - Terrible Service

They didn't return to fix my a/c after they were paid. No one would call me back. I called them at least six times to let them know that my air wasn't working and find out when they were bringing the part. I never got a call back. They no showed twice and lied to me saying they had fixed it. I had to call American Home Shield to have another service company come out. I would never allow this company back in my home. They gave me horrible service and clearly do not care about their reputation. They should be out of business.

They were sent to me too. I smelled them smoking and had to ask them not to.

They also scratched a freshly painted wall and tried to say they did not do it...it was painted the week before!!!!

They would not take responsibility... I will never have them back.

I too had an issue with a MSN named "Rpn" from MR Mechanical. He was here to fix my heatpump.

He is abrupt, nasty and not trustworthy in my view. I paid him for the trip and gave someone else the job who I was more comfortable with.

American Home Shield - Home Warranty Review from Largo, Florida

I cancelled my home service when I was told for the sec9nd time that my policy didn't cover the problem (1st complaint was a broken kitchen faucet that they claimed I had to go through Moen since there was a lifetime warranty on it.). As a result I cancelled my service in September 2014. Yesterday I was questioning my credit card company because I was having problems justifying my account when I discovered AHS was still taking their monthly fee. My credit card company said they could do nothing with the charges and I had to go directly to AHS for restitution.

Problems with payment

American Home Shield - Puts you in the middle, puts their contractors in the middle, and the end result is not good.

I've been an AHS customer for over 10 years - and faithfully paid my bill every month. Just 6 years ago, the compressor unit died to an older SEER 10 AC unit at my home. They replaced it - but not without additional expense. The unit was not properly installed, and was not "matched" to the air handler. For YEARS, my electric bill has been from $120 - $200 more each MONTH. The unit has never cooled the house properly, and had multiple issues - along with regularly needing additional freon. Not one of their many "upstart" AC companies would track the leak - muchless test to see WHY the unit would not cool the house properly. Frustrating. THAT UNIT was never covered under warranty. The AHS "contractor" never registered it. The outside condenser coils deteriorated completely, but AHS didn't want to pay the installation fee of new coils. UGH. Now, that unit has totally died. So, AHS was told, by Total Air Care (the most recent new contractor), that both units need to be replaced (handler and compressor). TAC wants $2558 in additional "uncovered costs" to replace my Trane system with a low-end Payne SEER 13. AHS offered a buyout of $1483. This is what they say they are paying for the unit plus installation. The "uncovered costs" include items that are horribly inflated in cost, some that are not required, and some that, according to the AHS contract ARE COVERED. My attorney advised me to ask for the costs, and an explanation IN WRITING. Since my request of both companies, neither will return my calls. I'm still paying my monthly fee for my contract. I feel badly for TAC. I think they are simply trying to make a buck here - when AHS won't pay for full installation. However, DON'T GET CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE. Meeting with my attorney again tomorrow. By the way, the cost, with ANY AC company here is less than the buyout plus the uncovered fees - and that's for a SEER 14 or 15 unit made by TRANE. What a rip.

American Home Shield in Cincinnati, Ohio - Terrible Service, Incompetent Technicians

We have had a work order open for three summer seasons to repair our central air conditioning unit. The first company that came out sent someone in a rusted, unmarked vehicle. The technician was covered in tattoos. He assessed that we needed a compressor. After several weeks and several calls to AHS someone returned without a compressor. This technician seemed to have a very low comprehension ability. He said we didn't need a compressor, but ended up using profanity and saying he could not fix it. We were finally sent a contractor for LA General Contractors, Randy, who appeared professional and knowledgeable. However, he showed up extremely late to every appointment, and then would say he did not have time to fix the leak. He would fill with Freon and not come back until we complained. This went on all summer of 2014 until Randy finally said it was too cold to fix. He came last week, May 2015, and fixed it. He also left me a bill for $200 that AHS wouldn't cover. I turned on my air two days ago and it froze up again. I am complaining and writing a letter to the president of AHS, Mark Barry. This is ridiculous. We have had other bad, but not as bad experiences with AHS. We are no longer satisfied with their contractors. They appear to be rejects. As soon as this is resolved, there will be NO future dealings with AHS.

American Home Shield - Warranty Review from Las Vegas, Nevada

HOMEOWNERS BEWARE!!! AHS or AmericanHomeShield is the worst warranty company we ever dealt with. They don't even deserve a star in this review. Customer service is very poor with bunch of liars. A simple claim for dishwasher repair has been ongoing for over 8 months and still nothing happen, every time we call they always say that the parts is in back order and will be coming soon. Then a month ago they said that the parts are no longer available and AHS will just have to replace the dishwasher. Turned out to be another LIE!!! After 8 mos they wanted to send another repair company to check our dishwasher again. Sorry but I just cancelled my contract with this company and will never return again. Prove me wrong on this: Call their enrollment/purchasing or payment department they will answer right away. Call their claims dept and you will be on hold for more than 30 minutes. 05/04/15 they said their very busy supervisor will call us, 6 days later, we haven't receive any call.
