Repairs

The Electrician came out to my home for repairs but didn't know what needed to be repaired and left. I know sure if they were told exactly what was needed to be repaired; however, the electrician wanted me to tell them what was needed. I need to know if someone from AHS advised the Electric company on what needed to be repaired prior to contacting the electric company. The original ticket was created by the plumbing company. This is very time consuming and I had someone stay at my home in order for them to come out. I need for someone to call me asap!

Terrible Home Warranty Company

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have opened multiple service requests with this company. The first was for a broken pipe.

The contract company called me immediately to set an appointment, but could not make it for week. I had to fix myself. Three other issues like this. AHS says that someone will contact you within 24 hours, and have your repair fixed within three days.

Most of the time it takes three days for the company to call you, then schedule a week later. I have had two AC Service requests, one currently open, that took over three weeks. The first took a month, during the month of June into July in Georgia, and I ended up having my own HVAC guy fix the issue. The second is still going.

it is now over three weeks. The contract company doesn't show up when scheduled, and takes forever to schedule. I hope to get this resolved, then cancel my service with this horrible company. I want other to know they should not use this company.

They are horrible. Customer Service on hold time is average 30 minutes. You will have to call them often to get the contract companies to do anything, so plan on many hours of on hold music.

Customer Service reps do not care about you. You are only a number.

I recently had my first needed repair from American home shield. I was very disappointed. The contractor did not cover his shoes. He replaced my broken microwave door. And left a screw on the floor and the door does not close smoothly.

DO NOT USE TOTAL AIR CARE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

American Home Shield our home warranty company had contracted Total Air Care to fix our air conditioner... We had to wait a week for our appointment...

with no A/C we were very keen on getting "cool" again. We were told they would come between 12p-4p. We waited and waited... NOTHING...They didn't show!

No call to warn us or anything... I tried calling the company and was on hold for hours... after looking at other reviews have decided to go with another company... this is so unprofessional!

Our A/C is still not fixed! I have called AHS to complain about the "no-show" and have requested them to contract another company...

Total Air Care is very unprofessional - and a waste of time.

If you “decided to go with another company”, why did they (the other company) not fix it? Did you leave them a bad review as well?

You should have! Because whenever something is broken, it should be fixed...

immediately! Never mind who is going to pay for it.

I have a similar situation but it relates to Condensate ruining my ceiling and unsuccessful attempts at repairing a simple problem. Presently my ceiling and insulation are down, the floor below the unit is water damaged, there is suspicious black coloring on the framing and the unit is rusted.

Total Air has not been responding with the trained proffesionals to diagnose and resolve the problem has caused the situation.

Total air care is responsible for rplacing the unit and repairing the damage to my house. To date they have been unresponsive

That happens when air conditioners and plumbing are located overhead. It sucks that you left the system running and didn’t turn it off before it caused the damage. If they didn’t install the system, it is in no way their fault.

Guest

I also live in the Baton Rouge area, and have nothing good to say about Total Air either. They are liars, plain and simple. DO NOT USE THEM!

Did you ever consider that AHS could be to blame, with their cost controls? You aren’t the only one that is unwilling to pay the appropriate prices for repairs.

Worst Home Warrant Company Ever

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
When I purchased my warranty from AHS, I paid in full. I have put in one service call to the company about my built in microwave, had a technician come to my home to ascertain the problem (he was at my home all of 20 minutes), left and the next thing I know AHS tells me the microwave has to be replaced. They send a new (150+) microwave to my home and now they won't assign the installation to a vendor that will not force me to take time off work so they can come to my home to install the thing. Mind you, I never wanted a new microwave. I went online to find out how to fix my old microwave and all that's required is the purchase and installation of a $30.00 part. I called AHS to ask for the name and number of an appliance installation vendor that will send someone to my home at least later in the day - instead of first thing in the morning - to install the microwave, their response, "Well the current vendor assigned to handle your install has service hours within our time frame." This is my one and only service request I have made with AHS and they are the most selfish, lazy home warranty company I've ever had to deal with. The appliance installation company (Appliance Avenue) and AHS have absolutely no regard for the fact that not everyone can *** of work and wait 2 to 4 hours for them to do what I have paid money to have done. I have never heard of a company that thinks it's okay to force customers to *** of work. I even asked Appliance Avenue if they could at least have the installer come in the afternoon and essentially, I was told, "No". Okay, I no longer wonder why I never heard of Appliance Avenue until AHS assigned them to install a new microwave I never wanted in the first place.

I have had this coverage for my home and low and behold I had my AC stop running. This company called a contractor who was not "able to come out" for almost a week-YUP suffer you poor sap, we got your money we will hire a horrible contractor who never comes. Called AHS spoke to two different girls, all lies. AHS states they are allowed to "NOT CANCEL ONE CONTRACTOR" and "HIRE ANOTHER ONE', they are the worst ever. Save your money-you will get the same horrible treatment-LIES SCAM. The BBB needs to investigate this company. I am writing to the Federal Trade Commission and filing a complaint. They will then have 24 hours to respond and correct the errors. They need to be closed, they take your money and give your NO SERVICE

Resolved: REFERRAL PROGRAM SCAM

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Have been chasing $25. for myself, a new sign up, and my neighbor, the party who referred us to Am.Home Shield.

When I signed up, I called Sales after seeing info on the Referal Program. I was asked for my email info, and my neighbor's email info. Neighbor said he took the service over from previous owner when he bought the house long ago and didn't think he used an email address. The AHS young man confirmed after looking at neighbors contract info.

He said he would put thru the info and 30 days from our active date of Oct. 22 our Gift Cards would be sent out to each of us. I called the first part of Dec. And was told 60 days....that's untrue becuz I just checked AHS website and its 30 days.

I called Sales Dept this evening asking why I was given incorrect info and where are our Gift Cards? I was told becuz the referral was not requested thru the email template, we can't have it??? No where on AHS website can I locate that regulation! She verified, supposedly, with a Supervisor.

If this is how AHS does business, then I think we've all made a mistake! The fact that every single person I have talked to has been misinformed and hasn't a clue about the referral program is worrisome to say the least. If AHS wishes to contact me, please do so. Address: 186 Eunice Cir., 92225.

We are going to re-evaluate our relationship with AHS. Prior to this we have been very happy and my neighbor who referred us has also been happy with AHS.

That's why he referred us. I hope AHS does the right thing.....it would be ashame to lose two good accounts and have the reason why all over the internet......especially becuz it's probably due to untrained employees manning the phones!

I am having the exact same issue. I referred my mother in law.

They told.me I had to wait until she had the service for 30 days and then go on referfriends@***.com. This site only allows me to send my referral code to more people. She already used my referral.code when she signed up so this doesn't help.me at all.

I keep calling and getting the run around. This is ridiculous.

Guest

I am pissed about the gift card too but I can say that when the broken water pipe flooded my house, they showed up the next day to fix the problem.

Guest

Yeah, they did the same to me! They told me that my monthly payment will be credited $25!

I asked why they lied and I don’t see a friggin credit!!

The two agreed and said the website needs to be updated. They’re full of BS!

Guest

I am having the same issue. Very disappointed with them.

Guest

Have been trying to collect my $25 gift card for referring a friend to AHS. So far a totol run-around.

I was referred to a third party site to activate the promotion, but was unable to submit an application.

Seems like a total scam. Disappointing.

i'm in the same boat as all of you. i've made 8 phone calls and have spent nearly 6 hours, combined, on those calls.

it's been 3 months since my friend signed up and neither of us has received an amazon gift card. i think it is a scam.

Guest

I apparently just got screwed yesterday, my sister referred me , I signed up and now I can find no mention of the gift cards.

Guest

Same thing with my mother and I!!!!

Guest

my daughter and i also have been chasing our cards. she has actually used AHS for service and shes happy with it.

we havent had to yet but we have only had it for 4 months. but if they arent going to send the gift cards, why even mention them?

AHS is a scam

Went online to request service for my failing furnace. 2 days later I had to contact my local rep as I wait online for 50 minutes or more. Tech out, took my money and took pictures, then next day, NOTHING. Furnace still not working correctly. On phone line now for 75 minutes. Where is my support I was promised by my realtor. I am now spending time on the phone, away from my family, WAITING for someone to answer their phone *** to even find out when I can schedule a fix... Totally ridiculous. This is a "feel good" realtors use (both selling and buying) to ease the buyers mind about issues in the home.

Elderly sadness

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My wife and I are both seniors and I am disabled. We contracted with American Home Shield ($54 per mo.) to protect us from unexpected household repairs which might allow us to remain in our home. Our income is limited.

Our furnace failed over two weeks ago and with October in Ohio arriving we need a repair. The tech from their agent Fast Response, Grove City Ohio came to our home, took the $100 co-pay and never returned. 10 Phone calls to all parties have been ignored and no timeframe for diagnoses and repair/replace has been offered.

While we understand how insurance works, it is sad that the industry is silently laughing at their needy clients and chastises them each time an answer is requested.

Perhaps all Home Repair Insurance operates the same way, but American Home Shield is particularly cruel. We are sad and helpless. Space heaters and high energy bills are the only option? PLEASE BEWARE.

Semi-scam. Every service Call has some denial due to some 'technicality' in contract

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Had it for one week. The garbage disposal started leaking. I disconnected it and when the service person came he said we shouldn't have disconnected it.

Then the toilets and showers were clogged. the service *** said we had a foreign object in the pipes so he couldn't do anything whatsoever. And we had to pay the $100 fee. No toilets Sat and Sun and we have to pay for a plumber separately.

There you have it. I would call it a semi-scam.

Oh and 20 min on hold with horrible music. Intentionally horrible?

Thank you for paying for your warranty, how can we NOT assist you?

American Home Shield "takes your money and runs"

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I live in Tucson Arizona. And as many people know it gets pretty hot here.

Every other year my A/C unit goes out since we have lived in out home. and every other year we have had to fight w/American home shield for repairs. Well my A/C unit has gone out again and today's high was 99 so you can imagine what the temp feels like inside of a home even with the widows and doors open to get a cross breeze of hot air. W contact American Home Shield and told them that we needed to have some one come out right away.

They said that they could not find anyone in their list of people that could come out. My husband asked if we could look for someone on our own and have American Home Shield reimburse us. They agreed under one circumstances, that company that we chose when needed to call American Home Shield and let them know what the problem is before they give the green light to take care of the services. So the hunt began and what we found out there are alot of companies that do not want to deal with American Home Shield.

I need my A/C unit replaced , I've needed it replaced for years but they refuse. They offer this promise of fixing A/C units on their website but they don't.

So once again we are stuck with a company that could gave a *** about their customers, and I along with my family is stuck in a hot house waiting on them to get it together. the last time we had to wait 3 weeks before any work could be done in the Arizona summer months.

I am presently going through the same thing with AHS contractors with my central air conditioner and have been without air conditioning since July 29th, 2016. I've gone through one contractor who refuses to come back.

The other will return again for the third time Friday the 19th. Every time they come, they put R22 in the system that leaks right back out and system freezes within 7 hours. When I asked the tech why do you keep doing the same thing with no results, he told me an AHS go between by the name of "Todd" told him NOT to condemn my unit, just keep repairing it!!! I asked him for Todd's number but he would not give it to me.

I called AHS and of course they did not know "Todd". Agent supposedly escalated my complaint to AHS's Contractor Relations Department but agent has not received a response from CRD. As of now, agent at AHS left a message that another contractor will come out for a second opinion.... haven't heard from this contractor nor did AHS agent leave name or number of contractor.

Conveniently, I cannot contact this AHS agent directly and have to go through the robo system only to get another agent who doesn't know what I'm going through until she takes 5 mins to read all the information. Then gives me the standard answer "Recall" At first, I blamed bad contractors working for AHS but now I know none of them could care less.

Stay Far Away

I purchased a home warranty through AHS and immediately ran into problems when I first attempted to use their service. I called in three separate issues, and was told that each one was a separate trade call at the tune of $125.00 each.

The first was a plumber who came to investigate a leak that had caused an overhead light fixture to blow and other damage to a room below. After less than 5 minutes I was told that the issue was grout, and that AHS doesn't cover that nor will they cover the water damage to the light and ceiling below. Strike 1. Next came the electrician to investigate why the bathroom lights weren't working properly.

Turns out a dimmer switch is out, which he replaced (upside down I might add), and charged me $125. He wouldn't however look at the other outlets I wanted fixed since I didn't put that on the original trade call. Strike 2. The third call was for a JennAir double oven where the top oven didn't work and the plastic control panel was cracked making it nearly unusable.

Again, $125 for the visit. He told me it was a heating element, which AHS should cover, and the control panel, which they probably wouldn't cover. After a month, I got an e-mail saying this particular service job was complete after nothing was done. I called them and they said they wouldn't cover the plastic panel since I caused the damage myself, and that their was no record of a heating element.

Strike 3. So after 5 month of monthly payments totaling more than $200 and $250 in trade calls, I got an upside dimmer switch installed. By the way, AHS is coming after me for the $125 for the plumber trade call for the grout advice. Their model is to get you in the door, charge you for the service calls, and then basically tell you they don't cover anything.

It's a scam. Even the service reps told me they hate it because customers get angry with them for charging the service fee and then not fixing anything. You are far, far better off finding your own service person, and hiring them directly.

If it's a big ticket item like HVAC, these can be financed over time and you typically get an energy saving break. Just say no to AHS.

This is such a scam company, My dishwasher and stove have been out of service for over 2 months every time I call I have to hold for over an hour, then you talk to the worst costumer service agents in the country. They cut you off and hang up on you. They order the parts and order the wrong ones on purpose. If you want drama hire them if you want service for your money stay away from these ppl. I have been on hold for 45 mins and just elevator music. no stove for 2 months nor dishwasher. I'm Just waiting to see how far they go before I sue them.

Been with these jokers for 6 years at a cost of $546.00 a year when you really need them they will do everything in their power not to pay for repairs of covered said items... do yourself a big favor save your money in the bank for such repairs you will be $$$$ ahead.... My first Claim was last year on a Kenmore washer that has been maintained approx every year via the store in which we had bought it from this machine was used on weekends for approx 5 loads... AHS sent out a service man he went through the machine and he told me that it was repairable and he will order the parts and will call in a day or two to set up a time to repair the washer... A day later AHS called me and told me that they will not be repairing it because it was abused BULL ***... Now our Samsung refridgerator stopped working on sunday and today is tuesday and we are still waiting for the repairman to show up... We went shopping on sunday just prior to the fridge going out and we lost everything that was in the refridgeator.. We had everything on ice in ice chest but as we all know you can only keep suff on ice for a short time... AHS SUCKS.... Ron Bender North Las Vegas,NV

Had to pay twice for same problem

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have been with this company for at least 8 years and my AC stopped working about 3 weeks ago. I have 2 AC units and of course I wasn't sure which one broke, seemed to be both to me however after the tech came by he said it was the downstairs unit. After suffering for 2 weeks because a part had to be ordered, he fixed the unit, cost me $724, he left without checking the units and then when I came home one hour later and checked the unit, the upstairs unit was not working. Called him right away he came out the next morning and the motor needed to be changed on the 2nd unit. AHS said it was covered but I needed to pay another $100 dollars. I was shocked since both units probably were not working to begin with and I thought it was $100 per service call, however they claimed that only one unit was found to be broken and the guy checked the other unit out of courtesy to me and didn't find anything wrong. I now feel that the amount of money I paid on this warranty over the past couple of years, I could keep my money and just pay for repairs as they arise. Lesson learned, I will be cancelling my home warranty after these repairs are done. Good bye AHS
