Terrible Home Warranty Company
I have opened multiple service requests with this company. The first was for a broken pipe.
The contract company called me immediately to set an appointment, but could not make it for week. I had to fix myself. Three other issues like this. AHS says that someone will contact you within 24 hours, and have your repair fixed within three days.
Most of the time it takes three days for the company to call you, then schedule a week later. I have had two AC Service requests, one currently open, that took over three weeks. The first took a month, during the month of June into July in Georgia, and I ended up having my own HVAC guy fix the issue. The second is still going.
it is now over three weeks. The contract company doesn't show up when scheduled, and takes forever to schedule. I hope to get this resolved, then cancel my service with this horrible company. I want other to know they should not use this company.
They are horrible. Customer Service on hold time is average 30 minutes. You will have to call them often to get the contract companies to do anything, so plan on many hours of on hold music.
Customer Service reps do not care about you. You are only a number.

DO NOT USE TOTAL AIR CARE
American Home Shield our home warranty company had contracted Total Air Care to fix our air conditioner... We had to wait a week for our appointment...
with no A/C we were very keen on getting "cool" again. We were told they would come between 12p-4p. We waited and waited... NOTHING...They didn't show!
No call to warn us or anything... I tried calling the company and was on hold for hours... after looking at other reviews have decided to go with another company... this is so unprofessional!
Our A/C is still not fixed! I have called AHS to complain about the "no-show" and have requested them to contract another company...
Total Air Care is very unprofessional - and a waste of time.

Verified Reviewer | Blythe, CaliforniaResolved: REFERRAL PROGRAM SCAM
Have been chasing $25. for myself, a new sign up, and my neighbor, the party who referred us to Am.Home Shield.
When I signed up, I called Sales after seeing info on the Referal Program. I was asked for my email info, and my neighbor's email info. Neighbor said he took the service over from previous owner when he bought the house long ago and didn't think he used an email address. The AHS young man confirmed after looking at neighbors contract info.
He said he would put thru the info and 30 days from our active date of Oct. 22 our Gift Cards would be sent out to each of us. I called the first part of Dec. And was told 60 days....that's untrue becuz I just checked AHS website and its 30 days.
I called Sales Dept this evening asking why I was given incorrect info and where are our Gift Cards? I was told becuz the referral was not requested thru the email template, we can't have it??? No where on AHS website can I locate that regulation! She verified, supposedly, with a Supervisor.
If this is how AHS does business, then I think we've all made a mistake! The fact that every single person I have talked to has been misinformed and hasn't a clue about the referral program is worrisome to say the least. If AHS wishes to contact me, please do so. Address: 186 Eunice Cir., 92225.
We are going to re-evaluate our relationship with AHS. Prior to this we have been very happy and my neighbor who referred us has also been happy with AHS.
That's why he referred us. I hope AHS does the right thing.....it would be ashame to lose two good accounts and have the reason why all over the internet......especially becuz it's probably due to untrained employees manning the phones!

AHS is a scam
Elderly sadness
My wife and I are both seniors and I am disabled. We contracted with American Home Shield ($54 per mo.) to protect us from unexpected household repairs which might allow us to remain in our home. Our income is limited.
Our furnace failed over two weeks ago and with October in Ohio arriving we need a repair. The tech from their agent Fast Response, Grove City Ohio came to our home, took the $100 co-pay and never returned. 10 Phone calls to all parties have been ignored and no timeframe for diagnoses and repair/replace has been offered.
While we understand how insurance works, it is sad that the industry is silently laughing at their needy clients and chastises them each time an answer is requested.
Perhaps all Home Repair Insurance operates the same way, but American Home Shield is particularly cruel. We are sad and helpless. Space heaters and high energy bills are the only option? PLEASE BEWARE.

Semi-scam. Every service Call has some denial due to some 'technicality' in contract
Had it for one week. The garbage disposal started leaking. I disconnected it and when the service person came he said we shouldn't have disconnected it.
Then the toilets and showers were clogged. the service *** said we had a foreign object in the pipes so he couldn't do anything whatsoever. And we had to pay the $100 fee. No toilets Sat and Sun and we have to pay for a plumber separately.
There you have it. I would call it a semi-scam.
Oh and 20 min on hold with horrible music. Intentionally horrible?
Thank you for paying for your warranty, how can we NOT assist you?
- Quick response from contractor
- Service takes days and too many technicalities

Verified Reviewer | Tucson, ArizonaAmerican Home Shield "takes your money and runs"
I live in Tucson Arizona. And as many people know it gets pretty hot here.
Every other year my A/C unit goes out since we have lived in out home. and every other year we have had to fight w/American home shield for repairs. Well my A/C unit has gone out again and today's high was 99 so you can imagine what the temp feels like inside of a home even with the widows and doors open to get a cross breeze of hot air. W contact American Home Shield and told them that we needed to have some one come out right away.
They said that they could not find anyone in their list of people that could come out. My husband asked if we could look for someone on our own and have American Home Shield reimburse us. They agreed under one circumstances, that company that we chose when needed to call American Home Shield and let them know what the problem is before they give the green light to take care of the services. So the hunt began and what we found out there are alot of companies that do not want to deal with American Home Shield.
I need my A/C unit replaced , I've needed it replaced for years but they refuse. They offer this promise of fixing A/C units on their website but they don't.
So once again we are stuck with a company that could gave a *** about their customers, and I along with my family is stuck in a hot house waiting on them to get it together. the last time we had to wait 3 weeks before any work could be done in the Arizona summer months.

Stay Far Away
I purchased a home warranty through AHS and immediately ran into problems when I first attempted to use their service. I called in three separate issues, and was told that each one was a separate trade call at the tune of $125.00 each.
The first was a plumber who came to investigate a leak that had caused an overhead light fixture to blow and other damage to a room below. After less than 5 minutes I was told that the issue was grout, and that AHS doesn't cover that nor will they cover the water damage to the light and ceiling below. Strike 1. Next came the electrician to investigate why the bathroom lights weren't working properly.
Turns out a dimmer switch is out, which he replaced (upside down I might add), and charged me $125. He wouldn't however look at the other outlets I wanted fixed since I didn't put that on the original trade call. Strike 2. The third call was for a JennAir double oven where the top oven didn't work and the plastic control panel was cracked making it nearly unusable.
Again, $125 for the visit. He told me it was a heating element, which AHS should cover, and the control panel, which they probably wouldn't cover. After a month, I got an e-mail saying this particular service job was complete after nothing was done. I called them and they said they wouldn't cover the plastic panel since I caused the damage myself, and that their was no record of a heating element.
Strike 3. So after 5 month of monthly payments totaling more than $200 and $250 in trade calls, I got an upside dimmer switch installed. By the way, AHS is coming after me for the $125 for the plumber trade call for the grout advice. Their model is to get you in the door, charge you for the service calls, and then basically tell you they don't cover anything.
It's a scam. Even the service reps told me they hate it because customers get angry with them for charging the service fee and then not fixing anything. You are far, far better off finding your own service person, and hiring them directly.
If it's a big ticket item like HVAC, these can be financed over time and you typically get an energy saving break. Just say no to AHS.
The very worst company I have ever dealt with
AHS SUCKS
- Ahs utilizes subcontractors that are unvetted
- Subpar contractors
- No emergency service available
