Cancelled Contract
May 4 2017 Needed repair on a covered pool filter. Two different service contractors came and both misdiagnosed the problem.
After waiting over 2 weeks to resolve the issue with a pool turning green, ended up fixing with a private contractor. Same situation last year with a tankless hot water heater. Again, two different technicians were unable to fix. Hired a private company after days without hot water.
AHS will try to deny any repairs for any reason. Read the contract carefully as their exclusions can pretty much void all service requests at their discretion.
Companies affiliated with AHS have been poor quality and unprofessional. Have since cancelled contract.
AHS - thieves and crooks!
Wow, this was an awesome review and you hit the nail right on the head. I sold AHS in Florida as a realtor and had them for my personal home warranty company for the past 15 years.
I again had a "free" 1 year warranty bought by the previous homeowners when we bought our new house in South Carolina, and they have progressively gotten worse. I cannot even begin to tell you about my ride home today when conversing with AHS about my fan. The outright tell me that they BASE THEIR PRICING ON THEIR REDUCED PRICING OF ITEMS THEY GET FROM VENDORS HOWEVER, they do not pass that reduction or buying power to their customers, so their cash out options are invalid and useless. I have finally had a enough of AHS.
Its sad to hear that they are backed by the American Realtors Association as I would not back them if my life depended on it! They are fraudulent, liars, and ***-artists who take advantage of the middle class working Americans. The President of the the Company Tim Fields, should be embarrassed to even be associated with such a fraudulent company with sketchy at best customer service. I actually spoke with a rep by the name of Ashley in the Options Dept at AHS who told me there were only 11 people in that dept and that I could NOT speak with a manager and there was only 1 of them, and due to AHS' PROTOCOL, THEY HAD TO CONVERSE WITH ME AT LEAST 30 SECONDS BEFORE EVEN TAKING A MESSAGE FOR A MANAGER!
Who is working for who?
AHS is NOT working for buyers or sellers, I would laugh at a realtor if they ever offered AHS free year to me! Chances are they do not have AHS for their own homes because they know they are thieves and criminals!

**READ CONTRACT CAREFULLY**
If you are considering buying a home warranty policy from AHS, you really need to have an attorney review the contract. What YOU think it says in black and white, is not what AHS will say when you need something repaired or replaced.
I recently was told by a service provider that my water heater needed replacing, AHS stated my out of pocket costs would be over $1000 for modifications that would need to be done to bring the new unit up to code.
The ServicePlus Package in my policy states these modifications are covered; however AHS disagreed and therefore I lost that discussion. They were willing to offer $773 as a "cash out" option if I wanted to use my own Plumbing company, however the cost of the new 80 gallon water heater is $1100 (not including labor).....so once again they win - the customer loses!
Preferred solution: AHS to cover modification costs and install equivalent unit
Great sales people! Horrible coverage
Preferred solution: Get a better customer service system.
Poor customer service and use of poor service providers
A dryer repair mechanic was sent to my home and refused to remove his shoes before going up stairs on my carpet. He also did not bring shoe covers and stated that if you wanted him to remove his shoes that you would need to put the order in when you call in the repair order.
The dryer could not be repaired on one visit according to the mechanic who said that he had to order a part. I called AHS to report this mechanic and to see if they could send someone in his place and they said that he would need to finish the job since he started it or it would be a new claim warranting another deductible. At that point I feared retaliation from the mechanic after I reported him and suspected that the dyer would not get repaired correctly. Sure enough less than two months later the dryer is not working exactly as a suspected.
I called AHS again about the dryer being broken again and expressed again my previous fear of retaliation and they still insist on sending the same mechanic and company back out to do the repair. When I asked AHS for a complaint contact I was told you send it to a general box called "COMPLAINTS". I asked who runs the department and the rep told me that she didn't have a contact. I asked who the CEO was she said she didn't know and couldn't provide a name.
I asked for her supervisors and she said she couldn't provide a name. Any company that does not want to provide the names of management tells me that they have something to hide. Either they are a scam or they have constant complaints that they do not want to address directly. I would not recommend anyone spend their hard earned money to hire a home warranty company that does not have the homeowner’s interest at heart.
If I pay you to provide a service the least you could do is provide the name (CEO or owner of the company) who is cashing in on my contributions to the company. Clearly customers are not valued to AHS. I googled the company to find that the CEO is listed as Mark J. Kerry but I shouldn't have to research that if I pay money to the company.
At the very least it should be provided upon request.
This type of sneaky business is unheard of from a legitimate servicer provider. I would not recommend anyone do business with a company that does not value and look out for their customers.

Horrible customer service bad appliance replacement options
My 36" stainless steele freestanding range door broke, after 4 long weeks it was decided that it could not be repaired. AHS gave me two offers for replacement or a cash replacement amount of 1,083.99 which includes delivery and installation.
The first offer was a 30" that had the same features. The other option would be a white 36" range that did not have the same features. I called AHS to tell them their offers where unacceptable as the 30" would not be wide enough and the 36" did not have the same features and neither would match the other stainless steele appliances I have. Their response was we do not guarantee size or color.
I asked to talk to a supervisor I was told one would call me in 24-48 hrs it has been four days.
The customer service is horrible I have called many time and have waited on hold at least 30 min every time. BEWARE if your refrigerator goes out and they are unable to repair it they may offer you an ice chest.
- No call backs
- Customer service
Preferred solution: Replace my range same size same color same features

I was wondering if they still forced you to pay the service fee even though they did not provide service? We are dealing with the same situation and they are asking us to pay the $75 fee just for making the dispatch call.
