American Home Shield Air Conditioner Repair Review from Salisbury, North Carolina

Been waiting for 2 weeks now for someone to fix my ac. It took 3 service calls for whoever American Homeshield sent to actually look at the unit in the attic to begin with. They only looked at it after my mom specifically asked them to go up there and check. After looking up this particular ac company, I could only find bad reviews of their terrible company. They tried to charge my mom near a thousand dollars for things that weren't even the main issue. My mom called American Homeshield to dispute and they documented what she said and promised to expedite her service request. We haven't heard anything since from them or a contractor. On the bright side, I have found a suitable solution for my enemies: the purgatory of an American Homeshield service call.

American Home Shield Home Warranty Review from Knoxville, Tennessee

I have a home warranty through AHS and have had an open order for over 1 month. I have tried to call AHS and never get my call picked up through the customer service # . I have also contacted our appliance repair person, Gordon Johnson and he texted me stating he cannot get a response from AHS either. I have contacted AHS 2x with no luck getting through and no updates from the appliance repair technician. This is not a great experience with AHS considering this is my first month of my home buyers warranty.

Getting Screwed by American Home Shield

American Home Shield is such a joke!!!! Do NOT bother to take out a policy. They are totally not worth it!!! Our air conditioning finally broke after being serviced for several years and now they will only install the most basic of units. We have had a plan for 9 years and now they want to give us a substandard unit (one that would be put in spec homes). We have put over 5,000 dollars into this plan and they are not true to their policy. We are considering legal action. NEVER get an American Home Shield plan. Put money in the bank to plan for appliances that break down!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you want to make a complaint, make sure you have cleared your calendar for hours. AHS conveniently puts people on hold, calls are dropped, and gives conflicting information.

My landlady has a contract with this mess of a company. The AC in my unit has been breaking every once in a while and im stuck without it for days because they only have one technician working in my area or so i was told. Scam Senior Citizens

They only charge $75 for the inspection and then the A/C company, in this case Total Air Care in Florida, takes you for $1,000 which is supposed to be the freon cost. AHS pays $150 towards freon, which actually cost less than $100. When I complained to AHS they said that charging $75/lbs is normal for that company(!) Which sounds like they know its a rip off but its not their problem? In fact any argument is stonewalled. A quick survey shows rates around $35-45 are more common. I have no problem with A/C companies making money, but it should be realistic. So what's going on? AHS sells pretty low cost insurance to almost anyone because they have figured out how to do this bait and switch. Each time I called I've waited 30 minutes to get through, and the person answering was not really sure who she worked for. We waited over a month for the callback that was supposed to happen in 24 hours. Spent a few hours on hold to try to get the A/C fixed. When I called to negotiate a cashout, each time I called I got different amount and a "don't know who gave you that but it's wrong!" I was allowed call in a complaint, negotiate a cashout but was not allowed to speak with a supervisor because my name was not the primary name on the insurance!?! This all smells like an operation where service is a nuisance and profit is all that matters. Much how scammers operate. They have a huge number of complaints and really should receive an investigation. Their business model, from the customer viewpoint, is rotten and they simply don't care regardless of what they say to BBB and others.

American Home Shield Refrigerator Repair Review from Spring, Texas

Our refrigerator went out on Saturday night. We were booked with a repairman for Wednesdsy from 8-12. 5:00 PM they called and said he was ill and the next available time was August 9. Went out on 7/23. After holding for 1 hour they had another company booked the next day from 5-8 PM. He never showed or called. Next available was Friday from 3-6. He came. Checked today with repair co and they sad American Home Shield has to order the part and eta is 14 days. Are you kidding me? I have been on hold with AHS for 1 hour again with 0 response. They have to order the parts so beware of this. A compressor is in Houston but they have to ship one in to save money. They are terrible! I am done!!!

Excessive Waiting Time for Phone Call to be Answered

I called to place a service request yesterday, Sunday, August 31st. I waited OVER AN HOUR for someone to answer the phone while being reminded at least 20 times by a recorded voice as to HOW IMPORTANT MY CALL WAS TO AHS. This is just unacceptable. I would like one of your Executives to hold on the phone for anywhere near that amount of time. I don't think they would tolerate it. If my call was so important, have more Customer Reps available to answer the phones. If this happens again, I will cancel my membership.

Expect calls to American Home Shield to be received by automated calling systems. Expect your wait time for an actual representative to be at least 45 minutes. Expect that you may have to wait on hold for a representative for upwards of 2 hours. Expect that the representative you finally get to speak to may be discourteous, unhelpful, unsympathetic or just downright rude. Expect that what you think is an emergency situation may be treated by AHS as anything but the actual emergency that it could legitimately represent. Expect that your plumbing stoppage may very well have raw sewage and wastewater pooling on your home's floors and in its bathtubs and toilets, but that your expectation for any timely service may have you waiting 4 days for any resolution by AHS contractors. Expect that your AC system may become broken, and that as a result, you should expect that in the meanwhile, the temperatures inside your home may readily soar to temperatures in the mid 90s for the entirety of the four days that it takes AHS to get contractors just to arrive from almost 200 miles away only to look at the system. Expect that as long as 8 days may pass while you await AHS contractors to successfully resolve the problem with you AC system. Expect that your contract for service coverage with AHS is written to minimize all losses to their huge profits, to eliminate by waiver all of your consumer rights to enjoin them in a class action lawsuit, and to keep AHS from actually providing any effective and timely service by qualified and competent professionals that satisfies your needs for repair and replacement. Expect to become frustrated, then irritated, and finally, to become completely irate, only to resign yourself to the lackluster quality of so called service by the company to which you pay your hard-earned, good money to, in hopes of keeping your home, its appliances and systems, all in working order. Expect it, because this is precisely and exactly how AHS contract claims are handled.

This is the sorriest warranty company in the world! They send out technicians that look like bums and most of them are rude as f#%k! They promise you this and promise you that but in the end you get screwed! I wouldn't wish this s#%t on my worst enemy! Do not and I repeat, do not waste your time on these crooks. They are a mf'n scam! There are far better companies than these guys. They tell you you will just pay a service fee and then they send you a bill that's over a thousand dollars. Do not let them pull you into their trap. And their agents are dumb as *** and can barely speak proper English. Don't do it. Save your money and do your own repairs. I assure you! This is not worth the time!

A complete rip off

I called AHS and held for 37 min the first time. 48 min the second time. 64 min the 3rd. Each time to listen how important my call was. I needed a washing machine repaired. I call daily but can't get through. Finally reach them today! Repair person said washing machine had to be replace. AHS said oh we have to do research. Today AHS says here is a number for you to call with appliance purchase and guess what - I repeat it 3 times. Then call it and its disconnected. What a joke.!! I played the hold music through our entire real estate sale meeting to show people in the meeting why NOT to use American Home Shield. Still no return call from service, still no working washing machine. Still driving to laundry mat to wash clothes which is a 1 hour trip and 1 hour time at the laundry mat. 2 hours daily. no response from AHS
