AHS the worst company ever. If you will notice they mostly post their favorable customers. Dealing with AHS you might as well not have them as your repair service. They refuse to pay a dime for our pump after they couldn't find anyone to repair it and told us to get our own service and they would reimburse us. We paid $2, 200 for our service. We cancelled a vacation to pay for this. No one has that kind of money to put out for repairs, that's why we have insurance. We are not finish with this yet. We recommend NO ONE subscribe to this insurance. This is not the only problem we have had with them. Every tech that comes to our house says they hate working for AHS, because they make them look ***. Please don't waste your time. They are not worth it.

American Home Shield are crooks. Called to cancel my account and they billed me for the next month afterwards. They will not credit my account. Trust me there are way better, and honest home warranty companies out there that are cheaper, and have better customer service. AHS is outrageous with their monthly fee and service call charges. Trust me. Shop around!!! May I suggest Choice Home Warranty.....The people I spoke with were extremely rude not to mention the 40 minute hold time. My life has a new purpose and that purpose is to tell people what a *** company AHS is and to let them know of other, better choices available to them. It is my new life's mission.

The owner, Dan Price, yelled and cussed at me in front of my family. I'm honestly embarrassed for the way he conducted himself. I know we all have bad days, but by looking at the reviews this isn't an isolated incident. And all of this happened before he even looked at the issue with my hvac. Once that happened things really get bad. 12 days after diagnosis they still had not called my home warranty company to approve work. It's unfortunate companies like this can stay in business with 1.4/5 stars and continue to go on without accountability. They totally rip off customers!! We had the misfortune to have them come out because of our warranty through American Home Shield. Long story short , they were supposed to show back up to do the so called repairs and NEVER SHOWED UP OR CALLED TO RESCHEDULE! They took our money and what did we get?NOTHING!!!

Bought a new home in January . Purchased a one year warranty from AHS . A few months in , had a slab leak . Was told it doesn't cover my slab leak because my house was built on a post tension slab . A mere 2200.00 later , problem fixed , no help from AHS. Second issue , had an outlet go bad somewhere in my house . Filed a claim , sent the elctr out and he was unable to locate the problem . First , said it was a blowdryer as it was too powerful . Then said it might be a loose wire which wouldn't be covered . Lastly,for 420.00 he can fix. Took apart some of my garage and didn't put back together . I called AHS several times to discuss and each time they said they would contact the supervisor that overseas the outside contractors they use . They came back with it was an overloaded circuit which was not covered . Ive had an independent contractor out since and everything they said was untrue . Called AHS to discuss as I called PRIOR to having them out to make sure I was clear in what they covered . They said it wasn't covered . Seems to me they look for any out they could possibly find so as to avoid having to pay a claim . Horrible experience . Not worth the paper its written on ...which ... if it was under their warranty , wouldn't be covered anyways because it probably would have to be off white instead of off-off white . Lame.

Been with these jokers for 6 years at a cost of $546.00 a year when you really need them they will do everything in their power not to pay for repairs of covered said items... do yourself a big favor save your money in the bank for such repairs you will be $$$$ ahead.... My first Claim was last year on a Kenmore washer that has been maintained approx every year via the store in which we had bought it from this machine was used on weekends for approx 5 loads... AHS sent out a service man he went through the machine and he told me that it was repairable and he will order the parts and will call in a day or two to set up a time to repair the washer... A day later AHS called me and told me that they will not be repairing it because it was abused BULL ***... Now our Samsung refridgerator stopped working on sunday and today is tuesday and we are still waiting for the repairman to show up... We went shopping on sunday just prior to the fridge going out and we lost everything that was in the refridgeator.. We had everything on ice in ice chest but as we all know you can only keep suff on ice for a short time... AHS SUCKS.... Ron Bender North Las Vegas,NV

Frustration might be the term--example #1 clogged toilet--24 hrs before I received a call--another 24hrs before someone could come out--only to tell me they could not unclog #2 water heater (winter time) 24 hrs before I received a call--36 hrs before someone came out--did not fix--claimed electrical problem (kind of strange) did not fix-- took him 10min to tell me that #3 garbage disposal--24 hours before someone called back--10 min visit did not fix--advised garbage disposal on the wrong side (kind of strange again) #4 refrigerator not getting cold--24hrs before someone called back--48hrs before someone could come out--advised freon--another 24hrs because they did not do freon--wait overnight to see if freon worked if not it's generator--waited overnight--still not working--4 1/2 days later--had to buy a new refrigerator--tired of waiting on a resolution #5--dryer not getting hot--called automated system--advised 24hours someone would call--no one called by the end of the day--no one answered the number that was given as the contractor--called next day--on hold for 30min--had to hang up--called again--wait 24 hours--2days passed--still waiting--no dryer-- probably will have to buy a new one before anyone calls back after 4days Additionally, each visit except for the last--had to pay service fee to be told what I already new--my toilet is clogged, my water heater is out, my refrigerator does not get cold (mind you it was giving off this strange odor), my garbage disposal is on the wrong side--does not work and my dryer does not get hot. Maybe I am the one in a million customer who has the problem with AHS--I have been with AHS since 1991--every year they increase their annual rate, every year they change the contract number and every year they increase the service fee--yet not one time have I used their service and had a favorable result. You say, why--well they are rated #1 and I keep saying it won't happen this time--unfortunately--it continues.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY | American Home Shield review from Houston, Texas

1) repairman told me to just not use the ice maker on my jennaire and said this was a manufacture defect. Also, said the loud noise of the motor was "normal." $1000 later (and a different company) it was actually the motor board and the ice maker door. 2) called for electrical service and the repair man kept calling to say he was running late from a previous job. I just happened to look outside and see him sitting in his truck. The next time he called to say he was running late, I walked outside and he said "oh, I just got here." Then he proceeded to undo the breaker box and not fix anything and left it disrepaired. Service charge was applied and not a single repair was made. 3) called about a garage door problem. Repairman came out and said "well, there's nothing we can do since they don't make this model anymore." Service charge was applied. BOTTOM LINE: Skip this --- I was out $1580 for the year with nothing to show for it.
