We have had the same experience as all the other people. Came and got a check for $75. Lucky enough to stop payment. Had to have another HVAC company to replace my unit that they should have done. American Home Shield would not help. After we presented proof they should have replaced our unit. AHS is just as bad! They should help their customers out, by getting rid of them! Plus take care of their customers! That's why we cancelled our warranty with them. Got a threatening letter from them about my stop payment. There needs to a class action law suit filed!!

Update--

American Home Shield wanted to give us a payout for our unit, but the payout was too small to replace our unit. Instead they "fixed it" by installing a new compressor that had to be ordered and took two weeks to be installed.

Avoid this company AHS is a SCAM, JOKE, RIP OFF | American Home Shield review

I needed a repair done, but they didn't have a preferred contractor in Indianapolis, so after 5 days of waiting for ZOOM Mechanical, who never contacted me or showed up because they are a contractor and didn't have any plumbers, I had to call my own. I got the issue resolved, and then AHS took my deductible from what I paid the contractor which is fine. But then they tried to hit me with a $75 service fee call because their contractor never showed up. I waited 63 minutes to talk to customer service rep, then she had to transfer me to customer retention to cancel my account and after another 43 minutes I spoke to a rep who tried to tell me I couldn't cancel until my account was zeroed out. I filed a complaint with the BBB, and am blocking payment to my credit cards.

10 days ago, we put in a service request with AHS as our fridge/freezer wasn't cooling anymore. It took 3 days before any parts were ordered and then finally today we were supposed to have them replaced. Wrong! We were just informed that AHS had sent the wrong parts...

We are now in our 6th week without having the issue resolved! Even though in the beginning we were told that we could not get a second opinion, they are now sending out another company because the first one gave up.

I wonder how much longer it will take them to replace the fridge. Worst customer service ever !!!

We have had an on going issue with the contractor AAR Appliances sent to repair our dryer. For over 2 months we have been without a dryer. The contractor has horrible customer service never calls with status of anything and excuse after excuse. When calling AHS for help resolving this issue they stated nothing could be done but wait for the repair to be done. We have been faithful customers of AHS paying our premiums and this how we are thanked, referring a horrible contractor and no assistance with resolving this on going issue.

We had a toilet leaking through the ceiling into the kitchen. Their "contractor" would call within 24 hours to schedule and appointment was not good enough, so we called a plumber who got there within an hour. Now American Home Shield will not reimburse us for the plumber or pay for fixing the 20" x 20" hole in the ceiling which has not been done yet because we're letting the space between the floors dry out. Like all insurance contracts they have a legal obligation to extract your money from you and pay for nothing, ever. Worst experience with a company ever.

Poor Customer Concerns | American Home Shield review from Lafayette, Louisiana

AHS has sent 3 different repairmen to my home for my dishwasher. The first one said he had to order parts, when parts came in the second person came in and said that the whole assembly would need to be ordered. The 3rd person came in and thought he had fixed it but let it run for about 10 mins. and discovered it had been leaking also and did not feel it could be fixed. He called AHS and told it could not be fixed. I understand it is an older dishwasher but valued at about $300. AHS said it could be fixed for $60. It has cost them well over $800 or $900 dollars to send out the 3 repairmen and parts. I cannot get an answer to what they propose to do!.

We are in Charlotte and having same problem with a washing machine. It's been 2 months with multiple repairmen and parts and still not fixed.

Someone different is supposed to be coming tomorrow but now another trip to laundromat required by us. Very frustrating!

When appliances break with parts falling off they don't fix them. My fan in freezer broke. The repair man confirmed this. They wouldn't fix the as they said freezer was still cool so only cosmetic! Biggest rip off ever! 55 minutes 27 seconds to get to talk to a customer service person. This is a scam. Sent out a plumber and he told me he wasn't liscensed but was going to get his liscense and I could use him direct because AHS was a complete rip off and tell them to deny all claims. AHS said all plumbers they used are liscened. No they are not. Scary this guy did work on my house.
