In July 2014 my air conditioning unit went out. Long story short it was a cheap 12 year old unit, that once it stops holding coolant and blowing cool air, it's parts can't be accessed it has to be replaced. After many phone call to schedule , the first contractor sent band-aided the situation by adding coolant. It ran out less than 24hrs. The company went with the excuse that they could not... My grandparents {80 years old} have contacted American Home shield about their broken refrigerator/ freezer for over a month and after many pointless trips out all different service people, all confirming they can't fix it, they are still without a refrigerator. American Home Shield has caused more a headache then my grandpa's cancer. This isn't right. It is a horrible company. This insurance... Read more

My 16 year old side-by-side refrigerator freezer began malfunctioning in late April. A service call was placed to AHS. The 1st technician came out on May 3, 2014; couldn't diagnose what was wrong; no parts ordered; unit worked for approx. 2 weeks before dying again. Same technician came out again in June, tinkered with it, got it running for several hours before it died again; no diagnosis... Read more

Company refuses to honor Contract agreements. Customers are left paying for repairs out of pocket. The Ac unit to my home is not up to housing code or even hurricane codes for Florida. The system constantly breaks down due out dated parts that constantly break repeatedly. One of the major issues is vibrations of the unit because the unit is about 30 years old and the vibrations issues will not be... Read more

I waited 8 months and had to call many many times for them to send an unlicensed contractor who said someone had messed with it, so they didn't cover it! No one had touched the freezer and the contractor did not tell me this but after talking to AHS all of the sudden it was not. Overhead because of this lie! He never called me back just proving he knew it was not true and he didn't have the guts... Read more

This company is horrible! I joined them in 1998 and have paid them each month since-sometimes on 2 homes. I've never needed a system replacement until this summer. They sent a guy out who said the system is old, leaking and needs to be replaced. AHS said, "No, we are getting a second opinion". I called the 2nd opinion guy and he rudely told me he couldn't get to us for a week and would call... Read more

The first service guy never called or came. AHS argued with me that they would eventually come! After 2 days, they called someone else who came 4 days later. They said they ordered parts on 7/3 - but did not! They ordered them on 7/8 and they may come tomorrow to put the first fix on the unit. That will be 16 days after we called AHS. It is a horrible service company - last winter, the... Read more

We've had AHS since 2010 the house ac unit we were told was going to need replacing soon and that's why we got the warranty. This just isn't you basic one either it's top of the line cost me almost $800 a year. EVERY SUMMER my AC unit goes down at least 3 times and once in the winter. The system is extremely old out dated yet AHS REFUSE TO REPLACE THE UNIT, they constantly just do band-aid touch... Read more

American home shield and probably any Home warranty company is a bad investment. There business model is to take your money first and avoid as much work as possible so they can keep your money. So what does this mean. During the month of July I was without air conditioning while we waited for the first person to come out (7 days later), look at the unit , say they did not know how to work on it... Read more

Signed up for AHS after getting spammed and bombarded with mailers for nearly 2 years. Thought it might be a good idea to get coverage as my appliances and ac were nearing the 10 year mark. After signing and receiving coverage coincidentally my ac started acting up. ( It actually was a capacitor issue that one hour ac of las vegas took care of.) I contacted ahs first thinking to myself thank... Read more
